I PMed VL earlier this week to let her know it would probably be a good idea for the Discussion Group to be on hiatus until her return. It has been three weeks now since anyone's been able to attend. I have done my best to keep it alive in her absence. I admit I haven't actively promoted it very forcefully, but that was because I was a placeholder for VL and didn't want to overstep by taking any aggressive leadership. I'm sure the fault lies with me and for that I am sorry.

My whole life (since the 7th grade at least) I've yearned to be a part of a Stephen King book club. I've never met anyone in my real life who has loved SK's work as I do. This site has been a godsend and the Reading & Discussion Club/Group was a dream come true for me. I hope and pray it will thrive someday - it kept me reading through some very dark times and for that I am eternally grateful.

Thank you everyone who has supported me in VultureLvr45's absence. I'll never forget your kindness and I pray she will return soon.

Morgan, you did a great job in VL's absence. I'm thinking a Friday night was just a tough sell. VL did a great job too and I hope it will come back and thrive. It was a great idea and still is.

(((Morgan))) You're a wonderful book discussion leader. I enjoyed the chats about The Langoliers and Secret Window, Secret Garden tremendously. Even though I hadn't read Secret Window and had only seen the movie, you made the discussion fun :)

I think attendance for the longer stories has been slight because its easier to interrupt whatever you're currently reading to read a shorter story y'know?

I'm not reading anything else but I'm still only halfway finished with The Library Policeman and like a forth of the way through The Sun Dog cause my brain quit working after getting the flu and my comprehension levels are like nil :( BUT my brain is on the mend and I would be horribly disappointed if we never got to discuss Sun Dog so please don't give up on us. :biglove:

Maybe after a couple weeks, everyone who wants to discuss Sun Dog will have had a chance to finish it and we can discuss the entire story :)

Hey Morgan! You have done such a great job! It has been increasingly hard for me to make it on Fridays between having other commitments and just having a hard time with the time change. I get up around 5am each morning, and by Friday 9:30 I am sometimes just too beat. But hopefully after a few weeks I will be able to make it again.

I hope that VL is doing ok. I am keeping her and her family in my prayers.

This is lovely!
I am glad that his books were there for you - I find coming here (to the SKMB in general) has helped me in the past - especially recently like in the winter of December 2013 - February 2014.

Let's hope VL makes it back eventually!

Hi Snake9785,

Not sure if people would like to do this again or not.. I kinda would, but with a new series, like the New Finders Keepers coming out in May, or with The Baazar of Bad Dreams, in November. Is anyone else game?
Count me in. I started out in the original discussion group, but life got in the way. I'm (more) free now.

A Finders Keepers discussion sounds ace.

Hi Guys... Morgan, you did a wonderful job leading the discussions while I was away.

I miss this reading and discussion group. If there is interest, I'd be willing to discuss some of Sai Kings stories. I'm currently listening to The Wind In The Keyhole.

I need to order the new book of short stories. When would the group like to begin?

I think it'll be to complicated to start finder's keeper's this week. Most people will be getting the book this week and probably won't have it finished by Friday, so the participants will have to be constantly dodging spoilers. I'm sure I won't have it finished by Friday, I've started working a second job in the evenings which eats into my R&R time. With that said, I don't really have a suggestion for a good book or story to focus on.

Snake, I hear you. I work two and a half jobs, finding 'down time' is interesting at best. Maybe we could switch the meeting day from Friday evening to Sunday evening?

Would Sunday evenings be more conducive to the group? They work better for me, but I will defer to what works best for the most people.

Agree about Finders Keepers and this Friday. Ordered a copy from a small book shop, hopefully it will come this week. Perhaps we could discuss it a chapter at a time, I am game if others are.

For the next few weeks, why don't we discuss Mr. Mercedes? Let's say the first thirty pages this week, thirty one through sixty two next and in a few months we'll have read all of Mr Mercedes. Then we can read Finders Keepers in the same way to give everyone time to read and digest.

Sunday evenings are great for me. I won't be reading along with you guys since I have other books I'm wanting to read after Finders Keepers, but I read Mercedes a year ago and still remember a good deal. Can't wait to start!
