My son was about that age when I bribed him with the same book. Reading was very difficult for him and he did not see any value in reading for reading. You read to learn. He wanted to watch a movie based on a King novel and I said if you can't read one of his books you can't watch one of his movies.
So he read Eyes of the Dragon and I let him watch the movie he wanted. Worth it too. He became a reader.
