I recommend 'Longmire'. It started on A&E but got cancelled at the end of the third season because although it was popular it wasn't popular with the right demographic. And it ended with a huge cliffhanger! Luckily Netflix picked it up and is starting season 4 in September. It's a great show about a modern day western town with a Sheriff named Walt Longmire. We love it!

Also 'Justified' is great if you haven't tried that yet.

You're quite right, and I should've recommended Longmire. We're diehard fans. Some of it's pretty well over the top, but that's fun too. (If TV was stuck to reality, it would be a reality show, and we despise reality shows.) We're thinking of paying the dues for the Netflix club just to celebrate their revival of this show.

I could let you know if it's worth the $9 or so after it starts. But it probably will be. :biggrin2:

Ah, 80sFan, the best is yet to come - try any of these:
  1. Spooks (that's what we called it in the UK) but Hulu calls it MI-5 Watch MI-5 Online - Streaming at Hulu
  2. Primeval Watch Primeval Online - Streaming at Hulu aka "dinosaurs eating people, rinse and repeat" (my sister's description not mine).
  3. Being Human Watch Being Human UK Online - Streaming at Hulu.Werewolf, ghost and vampire try to live together. Result- horror, drama, one-off brilliance.
  4. Scrubs Watch Scrubs Online - Streaming at Hulu Allegedly a comedy, but so much more.
  5. Torchwood Watch Torchwood Online - Streaming at Hulu Doctor Who (David Tennant vintage) for adults.
Happy viewing - hope you can binge out on one of these. . :haha:

I'll back up Bates Motel and Rectify.

The Killing
The Returned (Les Revenants)
Hell on Wheels
The Red Road (sadly, this is cancelled, but is worth a watch)

I once told a guy who recommended The Walking Dead to me that if I wanted to see a Southern lawman shoot the brain dead, I'd just watch Justified.

Another series I recommend without reservation is Elementary. Very well written, very well acted. I've never seen an episode yet that I would call "bad." In terms of "splitting custody" Sherlock got the London setting, 221B Baker and all the various trappings of Sherlock Holmes. Elementary and Jonny Lee Miller got his soul, his essence. The first three episodes are on BlueRay/DVD and the fourth season is only four episodes old and features John Noble as Sherlock's father.

Grandma loves Elementary. She would recommend it highly.

I'll have to check out "Elementary".
Finished "Breaking Bad" (again). And I still think it's the best series I've ever seen.

We then tried "Entourage", "Empire", "the Wire" (huge Michael Kenneth Williams fan since "Boardwalk Empire") and "Ray Donovan" but none held our interest.

Haven't watched any tv shows over the past couple weeks. Mostly Christmas movies and a Harry Potter marathon.

"The Man in the High Castle" looks excellent, so we're going to start that after Christmas/New Year.

Breaking Bad was my favorite show. 'Crawlspace' has to be my favorite episode. I don't smoke but between this show and '24' I felt like chainsmoking. My heart would beat so fast adrenaline would come out of my ears! :blues:

I couldn't pick a favorite episode...I have favorite scenes in all the episodes. I didn't start watching until the series was no longer on the air. Before that, my husband wanted to watch it so I humored him. I thought it was just going to be a show about meth and that I'd never be interested.

Then we watched the pilot...

Yes, I actually binge watched season one and was able to watch by the time the second season began. I didn't think I'd want to watch it for the same reasons. Brilliant writing and superb acting won me. I was surprised at just how much I related to Walt, which is sort of troubling, lol. Did you and your husband like Skyler? I don't know why she got so much hate online. I thought she was an equally complex character.
