No real need with downloadables etc. I don't even listen to my CDs much anymore, if I'm on my laptop I just pull up YouTube and can hear anything I want, but, I do miss the days...

We do still have our turntable, 45s, albums etc in the basement. One day we'll have to have a night and just play them for old times sake...
...I miss being able to go downtown to our record store, after I got my allowance or on payday-and thumb through the vinyl....the smell was intoxicating and a good portion of the LP sleeves were works of art...

There are still plenty of indie record stores if you know where to look.

I was at my favorite place when it opened this morning. There was a line to get in and the parking lot was full. Had to park a half mile away and walk back. Was able to get all of the releases I wanted except one.

Went to another location to try and find the Foo Fighters 10" and couldn't get in as there was a huge line and they were only letting in 15 people at a time. And this was a mall store!

Downloads and MP3s are OK but the sound quality is crap. The files are so compressed you lose the tracks depth and warmth. The average everyday listener might not notice but real music lovers and musicians do. There really is a huge difference in sound quality.

There is a reason that vinyl sales have increased over 300% over the past several years. People who have never heard anything except on MP3s that hear music on an analog medium will be amazed at how much more "present" the music is.

I am a bit of a throwback, though. I prefer tube amps for my guitar. I have started collecting vinyl again. I prefer artists that don't use autotune and can actually write, sing and play. I drive a modern muscle car all year round and snicker at hybrids as I leave them in the dust. I am a Renisance Dog!

Long live vinyl!

Me too! We still have my hubby's albums and 45s and my 45s, but, I gave all my vinyl albums to my son - include some very cool picture disc albums.

I hope he takes care of them!

Nice haul! You got some good ones.
This was my first Record Store Day. Very recently got into collecting vinyl but I stick mostly to horror soundtracks. I love the variants they come up with! I got in line at 7am because there was a certain one I wanted and my local store had ONE copy and now it's mine! All mine! Psycho 7"

My teen wanted a turn table. He and his dad hooked our old one up to his guitar amp. We were afraid he would damage the amp, so we picked up an adapter to hook it up to our receiver.

He's ordered a video game (download) that comes with three albums (vinyl). Hoping it gets here soon.

He was quite excited to get his first album for his birthday. But I told him...dad has Dark Side of the Moon. Now he knows, check with dad before buying any albums...two others he was going to buy we also have.

And this weekend he's going to buy another album. He tells me the flip side actually plays backwards...plays out instead of in. Not sure...he seems sincere but he is an actor.
