I saw Johnny a few years ago at The House of Blues in Chicago. I was in Chicago with a couple friends of mine and we were staying right next door the House Of Blues. When I discovered that Johnny was playing there I immediately bought tickets. My friends didn't know much about Johnny and I didn't say much other than, "trust me, you'll love it." Johnny had been in bad health for a long time and needed assistance to get on and off the stage and played sitting down. I knew this already but my friends didn't. So anyway, when the show starts and two guys have to lead Johnny out to his chair, my friends looked at me with a "what did you bring us to" look. ;-DThat look quickly disappeared and changed to a look of "shock and awe" once Johnny started playing .

For those of us of a certain vintage, it is a time when we are losing many of the mainstays of our formative years...

I once saw Edgar and Johnny Winter in concert together. One of the most enjoyable concerts ever. They even told the stories behind the songs they played. Both were amazing and talented artists.

...another axe falls silent....dammit...he was another unsung guitar hero to the general public...
Saw him in concert. Life goes on. I'm glad for those who leave stuff for others to continue enjoying. RIP.

He was one of the first reasons I ever picked up a guitar... in 1985, I was fifteen, and got "Serious Business" ... in an interview with Night Ranger Jeff Watson said that in order to find his own identity as a guitarist he had to let go of how much he tried to sound like Johnny Winter....
