We took the grandkids to the Big City on an outing a few weeks ago. Coming back through city streets, we found ourselves behind a couple cars that were at it with each other. One guy got out of his car, kicked at the fender of the other car, and then with a long-handled ice scraper (I am not kidding) whacked at the window of the other car. As he was doing that, his now-unmanned car started rolling backwards. He jumped into it, the light turned green, and the other guy took off, and Mr. Ice Scraper took off after him.

While the screaming and kicking and ice scraper beating was going on, I got a picture of one of the license plates and called it in. The grandkids were quite scared. They didn't want me to be seen taking a picture. I honestly thought if someone had been packing, we would've seen gunfire, and the incident may well not be over, and the authorities should know what was happening on their city streets. I gave the details to the police and told them I probably had a picture of a license plate on my phone.

They questioned me quite a bit over the phone, took my number and email address, and said if they needed the picture, they'd contact me. Never heard from them again.

Once you've driven in Florida, especially Pinellas County, Tampa, Orlando and Miami, you learn how dumb humans are when they get behind the wheel. I've found that just honking at them makes me feel better. Unless they honk back and then I'm like, "Nuh UH! No you dinnit!!!" and they must die...

Another thing people REALLY hate is when you give them a big thumbs down with a raspberry. I have found it infuriates them much more than flipping the bird. I guess they don't like you passing judgment on their crappy driving. But man is sure is satisfying when you do it.

No doubt about that. I live in Hillsborough county on the north side of Tampa.

Man arrested after series of road rage incidents in Tampa Sunday | Tampa Bay Times

I did hear something about it but hadn't read or heard the full story before now. Gotta love Florida driving. So we are practically neighbors then? Awesome! I live in Clearwater, and pretty much smack dab in the middle of Pinellas.

Nice, I love Clearwater, every time we make it that way to go to the beach I find myself eyeballing the apartment complexes I drive past wondering what the rent is going for down there lol

Depends. My wife works in the property industry, though she only deals with commercial now. One of the buildings on Clearwater Beach that faces the intracoastal was one her former company developed. It has a pretty wide variety of rent depending on size and view. But the top floor, 4/4 2000sf penthouse rents fro about $10K/month I think. The cheapest was a 1/1 non water view that went for $1500/mo. Clearwater Beach is about a 10 minute drive from my house or so.

It doesn't get any better just north of your area, Hoss. Pasco and Hernando are rural race tracks on US19. I live just south of the county line and generally stick to Hernando for driving/shopping. No concept of lane changing or stoping for red lights. If they don't see it's red- go ahead. I've given the finger to a few in my day. I've seen tire irons swing and a few shotguns come off the back racks. Just wait till the snowbirds return!
