Kurben, thought I would bring the Boy's Life discussion over here.

(I am on page 431 now.)

I bet that parrot has spent time being treated by the veterinarian or his wife!

And...
That poor Rhino....

Sorry Flake Finished the book. but
What do you mean Rhino!!! It was a Triceratops. And the solitary traveler was a real tearjerker of a chapter (sob)
Just couldn't stop once i put my tyeeth into the book. Great book. Absolutely the best i've read by him. I have Swan Song, Speaks the Nightbird and Queen of Bedlam left by him when the Mccammon urge falls upon me again. Have a feeling it might be soon.

I knew you would say that about the Rhino/Triceratops! :biggrin2:
Oh man... I put the book down right after that chapter. :( I will pick it up again tomorrow but, that was really tough going. Also, I had to take my little guy to see the dentist, so it was a welcomed break... even though it was the dentist!

Edit: I have Swan Song too, which I might read next.

I actually made a little start on Speaks the Nightbird. Is about 10 pages in. It is the first Matthew Corbett novel and is about a witch trial in Carolina 1699. To early to say anything yet.

I don't have this one and my (stupid) library doesn't have any of his books. Let me know what you think the further you get in, if it's good I might order it from the Book Depository after next pay day.

I just finished a reread of Nightbird a few months ago. It's one of my favorites, for sure. You might want to have the sequels on hand...I think you'll be wanting to read them when you finish the first one. I love Matthew, but love the Magistrate even more. With you guys talking about Boy's Life, I think it may be time for a reread of that one as well!

I've read 260 pages now of Speaks the Nightbird and can definitely say i like it. So if it's not to expensive i do recommend it, Flake! I've heard criticism against this book, that it was too detailed so that the pace of the story stopped and so on. So not true. It has details, true but just enough too sink the reader deep in 1699 and live the story. I think that if you liked Boys Life you will like this one too.

I had a look yesterday and they have one copy for $27.00, I might wait a while but will probably buy it at some point.

Sounds terribly expensive to me. Don't you have any other sites to look at? Mine costed 2,5 British pounds plus shipping (about 4 more pounds)

Looked up Amazon for Australia and New Zeeland and they had a copy for 1,60 dollars (used, don't know if they meant australian or US dollars) and 14 for a new copy. Much cheaper anyway.

Amazon.com: Australia & New Zealand: Books

For some reason the link i got was on history department but it is only to go there and search for the book among all books.
I remember now why I didn't buy through them before--the books are shipped from the U.S and it's very expensive.
(Unless I am missing something, I can't find any local (NZ or Aussie) books for sale.)

Here is a local (australia) seller that sells it for 26 UsDollar, Don't know what shipping is to NZ but it must be less. The two top are in australia.
