What GG said (well, I dunno about the owl guano part). But when I started my SK kick back in the 80s, Salem's Lot was the one book I always wanted to see a follow-up for. I always wondered what happened to Ben and Mark. The Dark Tower answered that though. I'm glad Ben finally found peace. I always thought of him and Johnny Smith as two of King's most tragic characters.

If you're asking about the novel 'Salem's Lot and the short story Jerusalem ' s Lot, I believe the short story was written first. Something in the dusty depths of my brain is saying that it was published in a magazine before the book was published. I could definitely be wrong, though. The second short story (can't remember the name right now, though I remember the story well) came after the novel. I think. Lol.

Interesting. I really need to stop because there is a massive thunderstorm here now but that's just not my style! I'm listening to "fight song", in reply to the other thread. I've read Salem's Lot and I will read it again at some point. Firestarter was one if my first introductions to grown up literature. I watched The Blair Witch project repeatedly as a comfort movie and as a teacher, I made absolutely sure that the Crucible riveting and engaging for my students.
