I'm on the second in Jack Whyte's Guardian's series--the first was The Forest Laird and the one I'm on now is Robert the Bruce. And if you read romances, there are more Scots than you can shake a kilt at--lol. Any good Scottish authors you can recommend?

I will recommend a movie instead: Have you seen Trainspotting? Set in Scotland, grim but excellent movie.

Try 'The Wasp Factory',,Set on a Scottish Island , well worth a read. ian rankin is a well known Scottish author. Almost all of his books are set in Edinburgh, and are crime novels. Enjoy.

Trainspotting shows the underbelly of Scottish cities but is not representative of 'normal' Scots. Its a bit of an embarrassment.
Oh you did not just call my Ewan an embarrassment... ;)

I don't think it is a story about Scotland being on life-destroying drugs, I think it is a human condition story. You should be proud, I think it held more layers than what we sometimes first see.

And.... Ewan is awesome.

The Wasp Factory f**ked my head up. But being part Scottish... I enjoyed having my head f**ked up.
