Finally, here is my acoustic. It's a 2000 Gibson Songbird.

Ok, I'm done posting gear porn......... At least until I have another bout of GAS :)

That reminds me of a Bruce Springsteen concert I was at. He's the only concert I've been to where the singer talked so much to the audience. Anyway he said his dad used to call up to his room whenever he (Bruce) was playing guitar "and he'd never call it by name, it was never a Gibson guitar or a finger guitar, it was always a goddam guitar. 'Turn down that goddam guitar,' he would say."

He also said his dad would tell him "I can't wait 'til the Army gets you. When the Army gets you they're gonna cut all that hair off and make a man out of you."

I couldn't stop laughing at almost everything he said, even though I couldn't relate to it in any other way but having my own memories of parental arguments when I was a teenager.

I've heard that story from Bruce. It's an intro to one of the songs on his Live: 1975 - 1985 box set.

I used to hear similar sentiments about my guitar playing from my folks growing up. Although the language would get a bit more colorful at times. Especially when I started adding distortion and other fun effects to the sonic palette. Was guaranteed to hear "Turn down that f***ing guitar!" at least a couple times a week :)
