This was taken several years ago on a trip to California
I gotta say, if I drove 1700 miles to california and it was THAT grey I'd be pretty pissed.

Lovely family pics by the way.

We flew to California from Denver, and once we got there drove 1700 miles of Cally! Yosemite was grey that day and we had to walk 2 miles of road that was snowed shut to see the giant trees, but the rest of our trip was full of sun!

I was so happy to get this 9 point whitetail last fall! For years I had gotten 8 points, when I walked over to pick this guy up I noticed one of his brow tines were broke off, so he's kinda riding the fence between 8 and 9...happy anyway!

In the future, I recommend this type of photo be placed behind a spoiler with a descriptive tag. I find this picture very sad and disturbing. The eyes of that noble creature will haunt me now for days.

Nice buck...congratulations. Here in the U.P. we hunt whitetail, too. And winter is hard on the deer population.

Sportsmen and women pool their resources to provide supplemental feed for the deer...the cedars in the background have grown tall enough that the deer cannot reach that source of food. We are as much a part of nature as the plants and animals. When the python kills the monkey, nobody says the monkey died an unnatural death, nor do they call the python a murderer. If we manage the resources provided, those resources will provide for us. I, too, harvest from the wild both plant and animal and I will never be ashamed of my place.

...and smoking in the "afterglow"....:D
I know! - I wanted to post something about the cigarette too! (Andy smokes, as you know) - I used to be the most annoying "antismoker" around. As I have gotten older, I learned to get over it and just let people do whatever they want.
Andy is 60 now so I don't think he will be quitting any time soon! :hammer::facepalm_smiley::rofl:

...there was no ill intent on your part hun, and AG I'm sure knows that-it's just that some are more sensitive about certain subjects and photos than others of us...and we just need be aware and mindful....it's a beautiful buck and damn fine eating I'm sure...
You've raised a good point - if you hunt not just for sport or to provide a trophy - then I do not see the problem.
My grandfather in Quebec had to hunt to survive back in the 1930s, just to feed his family.

The meat is probably a heck of a lot better than the factory produced antibiotic and steroid ridden stuff that they mass produce now.

I live in a state that is very hunter oriented. And although I personally could not hunt, I understand hunting. As long as it is done humanely and the animal will be put to good use, fine. I have a neighbor family I've known forever and they are huge outdoor enthusiasts. As soon as their children could hunt, they hunted. And they took trophy pictures and on their first kill, they swiped their cheeks with the blood of the animal. THis is all too much for me, but I get it. Don't like it for ME, but it is a cultural thing.

Ha, harsh but funny, and it rings a bell - is that from a film or something?
Oh Scott knows I love him dearly. :)

It probably is in a lot of movies, but it's just an old phrase people would say to someone where I grew up. One specific flick where this was used was "Full Metal Jacket" when Sgt Hartman is talking to Cowboy in basic training.
