Any lawyers out there? I received a letter from Pa unemployment. Yes, I am still dealing with them. Can someone explain this? I was told I had it, and it would be direct deposited this week. ( I was denied on Aug 13 and appealed, I had to send them more info on jobs I initially did not included) I got the State Rep involved and then they approved.

Now I get a letter. The last paragraph reads:

ORDER

The Referee's decision dated August 13 2014, is vacated and the matter is remanded to the Department to investigate the claiments's assertion that additional base year wages should be included in her base year wage calculations, and to issue a new financial determination.

Jurisdiction is relinquished.

It also states "Whereas, judicial economy would be furthered if Department investigated to claimant's assertions and issued a new financial determination"

Of course they are not open weekends or Monday, as it is a holiday.

Arrrrgh

Sounds to me that the first refusal has been struck down and that the new numbers you provided should be assumed into the new equation and it sounds to me the issuer of the letter is urging the unemployment department to expeditiously get the job done.

I am so proud of you that you got your State Rep involved, he/she did what they were elected to do, that is take care of you. You made 'em work for the vote.

Isn't very consoing perhaps but i don't understand a word. Makes me think of a famous brothers Marx scene (don't remember which movie) Party of the first part. The read through a contract and everythiong they don't understand they skip and tear off.

Looks to me like that letter might be in response to your appeal, and might be late getting to you. If you've already been approved, you can probably disregard this letter. I'd call the unemployment office right away and ask about it, though, just to be sure.
And be sure to keep every letter they send you, no matter what it's about. If they ever try to tell you you're cut off, you've got all the paperwork backing up your position.

As a lawyer in an earlier life, I can tell you that this seems like a "we don't want to handle this because we have a tee time scheduled" statement.

Despite the legal garbledygook, it seems positive to your case.

"In the interests of judicial economy" almost always means that if you have an equitable basis in the case, if you are a squeaky wheel and keep hammering away...you'll get the grease.

Bury them (local contacts) with paper after some nice phone contact to make sure they haven't already gone back on track.

I spoke with someone on Friday. She said that the money will be deposited in my account 24-48 hours with 4 weeks of backpay. Tell ya what, after 3 months of back and forth with them. One call from the State rep's office and it was done in 2 days.

When I check the UC website under my login, it reads "PAID". But of course with my luck, they do not do anything on weekends and Monday is a holiday. I think that I am just nervous because every time I think it is settled - something comes up and they change their mind and and want more info.

Crazy.

It's a shame you have to wait until Tuesday to get your money - do something nice for yourself on Tuesday - get some groceries of course but also maybe go to a restaurant as a treat!

Yeah, my luck I will be eating a big steak dinner - seated next to the examiner of the case.

I know you are - things going right after all this craziness must feel strange, but you've hung in there and I'm so happy to know you and know that it's just going to get better from here.

I don't know how you've been able to hang in there for all this time or how you're surviving without funds. You are a saint! I only wish you the mostest best of luck.

  • Thanks. This is bad. I am not happy. In fact, I am miserable and weepy. I want food. I want to pay bills. I want to go out of the house. I am trying to hang in and find funny things here or on internet to pass the time. I want to sleep until Wednesday. I had popcorn and jellybeans for dinner last nite. I found some change and went to dollar store I cant eat another noodle. I have never been poor before. it sucks.
