Two pints today (a very rare thing for me, anymore).

This one:

Guinness-Stout.jpg

is for George McClary, who had the good sense to come to America once he got hungry enough.

And this one:

is for dear Danielle, who would have preferred vodka, but doesn't get to choose anymore.

The rest of you are on your own.

Sláinte!

I didn't bring any beer out here, and I can't buy any. I wore a map-of-Ireland tie yesterday, put on a green sweater in the evening, and had a small measure of a fine sippin' tequila late at night. It wasn't quite the traditional thing.

Thanks, Sunny, for that St. Padraigh rundown. I knew some of it. Didn't know about the blue thing. And no, he did not drive the snakes out of Ireland, although since Ireland (like New Zealand) doesn't have native snakes, it made for a nice story. I went to St. Patrick's Grade School. I know what I'm talking about.

Hey, I'm just glad that the Catholic Church didn't do to St. Pat what it did to St. Christopher. After years of hearing the story of Chris and the baby Jesus going through the river, and having St. Christopher medals as the Patron Saint of Travelers, the Church up and says, "You know, he probably never existed." Ouch! What's next? Are going to tell me Lilith didn't.... wait, really??

I love your anecdotes, Grandpa...... I'm also fond of tequila, but it makes me kinda mean, so I don't have it often. Enjoy a shot or two for me! ♥

People can get stupid on tequila. Please remember:

1. Margaritas and
2. Shot/salt/citrus

are vehicles for delivery of cheap tequila.

Well, so are Jell-O shots, and I've made those too.

if you want a nice experience, get a good reposado or anejo, and sip, like you would a fine whiskey or scotch. I brought a Peligroso reposado with me. It's settling very nicely.

And.... supposedly, agave (from which tequila is distilled) is slow to be digested, so by having a shot of a nice tequila before a meal, you depress the glycemic curve from the meal. It's a diet drink!!! My daughter found this out on the Internet, so it must be true.

SwiftDogs get amnesiac on tequila. I lost about 10 hours of time in Vegas to a Tequila induced haze at a buddy's bachelor party. I did manage to get back to my hotel room with money in my pocket. How I got there is a mystery. I apparently split from the main group after the second bar........

As a result, no mas tequila for El SwiftDog........

I was not driving a car. It just hit me. All is well. :rapture:
They should really do a better job painting lines between street and sidewalk down there.
