The television landscape is always changing. What shocked yesterday doesn't always shock today, but it caused me to wonder about something. Does everyone remember the first time they saw something on a television show that took them by surprise? It doesn't have to mean nudity or vulgarity but could be an unexpected plot twist or surprising loss of a favorite character. Please use spoilers. If you will type the name of the show you are referencing it will help guide us in whether or not to read spoilers. Thanks.

I never saw it coming that Nina was a mole and that she would kill Jack's wife, Terri.

The Walking Dead
When Sofia came out of the barn with all of the walkers. That gutted me. I hadn't given up hope that they'd find her. Wow, what a surprise.

Game of Thrones
The Red Wedding. Need I say more? I was speechless on this finale. I honestly couldn't believe it. But it was awesome at the same time.

I'm sure I've just scratched the surface. What are yours? Any interesting anecdotes?

The High Seas
The Bob Newhart ending was fresh.

Sopranos ending was brilliant and at the time pissed me off. But, as I thought more about it, it was perfect.

Six Feet Under ending had me sobbing my brains out.

Of course, these are all endings. Things can happen in the beginning or middle that are also unexpected. House of Cards with Kevin Spacey does this all the time. The first 2 minutes of the first show had me hooked and I knew I was watching something completely different.

Not a show, but O.J. and the white bronco was shocking and pretty much changed the way we watch news as a nation.
Yeah that low speed chase was pretty special, I was bartending a dive beer and shot joint, place got packed, all eyes glued, constant commentary and arguements, couple fights...but thanks O.J., best tips I ever got in that hole.

I haven't seen Six Feet Under. LOST ending was like that for me, lol.

1) the Valentines Day ep when Lucy and Carter are attacked by a patient. Out of the blue. Shocked me to bits. 2) the ep when Dr. Romano's arm is cut off by the helicopter. 3) When Clooney came back for a single scene, years after he left the show.

I think that show was the best at keeping shocking twists secret. There are probably more that I'm not remembering :)
