I read somewhere that Stephen King is currently looking for "The Raft" which was published in 1982 and featured in Gallery Magazine. Is this true and is he still looking for it? I would have figured that in the world of eBay and other sources this would be an easy find for him. Just curious cause I believe in my collection I have the booklet (the same way "The Monkey" was published) and I did get this out of a Gallery magazine back in the day. Wish I had the magazine but it was a mess but the booklet was in mint condition when I picked it up.

It's not that version that he has talked about. A previous version of the story was called "The Float," and he mentions that he received payment for the story from Adam magazine at a time when the money was particularly needed, but he never saw the story in print. My belief is that the magazine folded before his story was published. In this day and age, if the issue existed someone would have found it by now.

I have all the existing copies of that issue of Adam in a storage locker in Baton Rouge. I'm waiting for the perfect time to auction them off and make billions!!!! ;;D
