Should all sk movies be remade

Now that cgi, I think that's what it's called, is here do u think all of sk movies should b redone. I think at the time in the 80s and 90s the tech couldn't do his movies, mini series ECT justice. Now that it has caught up I feel all of his cinema would be hits. What do u guys and gals think

Something like the Stand would not benefit too greatly from CGI as this was more of an epic character piece. The Shining as well I guess (except topiary). The Dark Tower definitely, but it's been done recently and didn't help from what I hear. I will see DT once it trickles down and form my own conclusions. That being said, any remakes would be good and it seems like most of what is put out now is a remake of something. New film tech, regardless of CGI, different lighting, sound, and screenplay; actors which have different takes to get to the truth of the character. I'd watch 'em all!

Somes, yes and some no.

Misery, Dead Zone, Cujo, Stand by Me, Shashank, The Mist, Green Mile, Carrie (70s) and a few others are about as good as they'll get.

It's rare for me to actually want a remake simply on account of improved special effects. Yes, they've allowed me to see The Lord of the Rings and the Marvel Comics brought to life (never thought I'd see either in my lifetime, to be honest). However, does any of King's works merit a reboot because of this? The only one I can think of is Cycle of the Werewolf. I'd like to see Rick Baker handle the effects for this one, with minimal CGI, with someone like Bryan Fuller being in charge because he would do justice the book's central theme of changing seasons.

But there are some of King's books that need a remake simply because the original films are just horribly dated now, and I mean some only. I'd like to see certain new directors adapting his material to film/mini-series again. Just off the top of my head:

Pet Sematary
Salem's Lot (I know it's been done twice)
The Stand as a high profile cable series

Leave the rest alone and focus on the books nobody has optioned yet, e.g. Duma Key, The Talisman.

I don't think they need to be re-done because they are of their time and that's why I love them. There are so many other books that could be made into films, why go back when you can go forward and make a name for yourself by doing a fantastic adaptation.

Can't stand remakes, especially when CGI is added for the sole purpose of adding CGI. This includes SK stuff. Avoiding most movies these days until acting comes back into style. Imagine I'll be waiting awhile.

I'm not against remakes in general, but using CGI as the reason? That's really no reason to do a remake.

Now that I've read some feedback I think that some movies, mini series should be remade. But not all. A good post was movies like stand by me, misery, shawshank should be left alone. Also cgi not being the sole reason for a remake. But pet semetary, under the dome would b 2 great ones to do. Under the dome as a cable series with a good budget could b epic. Right up there with game of thrones. The dark tower movie in my opinion was good for the typical movie goer. But this is another one that would b great as a series. Give people the real depth of the books.

They need to remake Cell. Excuse me, they need to MAKE Cell. I understand there was this "project", to put that loosely, that revolved around the book. I was so traumatized by it's green-slime-on-the-bottom-of-the garbage-can awfulness that I mentally suppressed the memory out of fear my psyche would implode.

i wouldn't mind seeing a better version of tommyknockers, but i think that suffered from being one of those tv miniseries back in the day more than the CGI.

Totally agree, add shawshank to that list. I really would like under the dome to be redone. That is my number 1 I would like to see . Should b a blockbuster.
