Does anyone ever feel or see something that lets you know that a deceased love one is still watching over you? My mom passed away a little over 2 years ago, and I had never experienced this sort of thing until now. A couple of months ago I was dragging the trash can up the driveway when a dragonfly started dive bombing me relentlessly. I really hate them, and finally I said (out loud), "Mom, if that's you, enough with the dragonfly!! I would much rather you be a butterfly!"

It stopped immediately, and as I was heading onto the porch I turned around and a beautiful butterfly literally flew up about 2 inches away from my face, hovering for a second or two before flying away. Since then I have seen a butterfly in the yard
every single day, and know mom is still around me, watching over me.

....what a great story...my wife has had similar butterfly encounters since her sister took her life....and every once in a while I can get a whiff of her perfume....

I've heard about pennies.

I have the same chime hanging indoors in everyplace I've lived. My mom said she would ring. Still waiting. Maybe it's just too hard to do.

But my sisters have seen things that they have asked for. I'm still waiting and it will hang. I have a necklace that she gave to me that chimes when I move. So I'll take it.

I have seen other things, though.

I use to believe in ghosts and all things supernatural. Since growing up, I am finding it very hard to believe because reason aces imagination and stuff every day. I feel sad about not believing but, oh well.
I agree, Staro.
No such thing as ghosts.
The human mind wants things to be, so assigns supernatural qualities to random happenings.
I'm sorry I can't believe in it, but I'm too logical and science-minded. People believe because they want to believe.
'Supernatural' events can be explained with logic and natural phenomena.
Not trying to spoil anything for anyone, JMO.

Maybe we are just not looking at it from the right perspective. String theory posits millions of alternate universes. We don't know what separates them, though. Could a "ghost" be someone in another reality bleeding into our own? Could every "supernatural" thing actually be natural events which we cannot, presently, explain?

I have seen, heard, smelled and felt things that cannot be explained by what we know right now. I am confident that they could be, once we discover the mechanism.

An interesting concept! I tend to agree with you, but until I know otherwise, it gives me a lot of comfort to think it's mom"s spirit.

That's a lovely story Lynnie! For me it's cardinals, and one time: an owl! I'm Catholic and we believe in many hard to understand things. I find comfort in them.

Nottie: I think what your mom is saying is that she's with you all the time. Warning: Catholicism at it's finest
we believe in Mass that all of our beloved departed are present with us

I remember about a year and a half ago I was sitting down in a garden of a pub. I was the only one there. A guy came down and sat having a beer. Anyway we start talking and he had an English/Scottish accent. Anyway, he said he was a specialist Doctor, who had moved to Newcastle from New Zealand. Anyway he told me he had gone to a boarding school in England and he had seen a ghost, a guy dressed like from the 15th century. He had been born in Edinburgh. I mentioned that I was reading a biography on Robert Louis Stevenson, and he told me his sister married a Stevenson who was wealthy because of the money from the lighthouses.

I do believe it`s possible to get some signs or something from the other side...
But I personally don`t want that.
I leave the dead alone, except when praying for their souls.
I wanna believe in the afterlife without seeing.
For Christ has said : " "You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me."
But that`s just me.
Lovely OP. :)

My Dad came to me 3 times/3 consecutive nights/at 3:00 am, shortly after he died. First time, mind you I was sound asleep, I woke because I heard my father call my name, clear as a bell. Got up, checked the house, everyone sleeping. Next night, I woke to the smell of Old Spice(his scent of choice), got up, looked around, everyone sleeping. The last night, I opened my eyes and saw a white shape (like a whisp if smoke) go right by my head next to me. And that was that. I told my Mom, if Dad is going to keep waking my a** up at 3:00am, least he can do is leave my some winning lottery numbers.... sheesh... she laughed. When my mom was actively dying, I was sitting with her one day, and she started talking to my Dad, and I asked her what was going on, and she told me my Dad wad standing near the door talking to her, I looked but clearly he was there for her. Now, my oldest son has the best story, which I just learned about. He told me, during a dream one night, my mother came to him, she seemed very afraid, upset to pass on. In the dream, Will told her it was okay to move on, and he comforted her... the next day I called him and told him she had passed. He wasn't surprised.

I had a dream once. My only real love, whom I not seen in years. He was in the dream. He was wearing a long black cloak. Not scary. Held my hand and said, "we will be together again" I was so happy. Finally!
I said, "when?" In the dream he just turned and walked away. Then turned back and smiled.

The next day, my friend called to tell me he died last night.

I went to the services. His mom saw me right away. Led me to the coffin and plucked a rose from one of the baskets. Gave it to me and said, "He always told me that you would get back together again"

I am posting this because I just had another dream and he was in it.
