Also, you can report the seller to Ebay. Perhaps it might save someone else from receiving a forged signature. Safe travels on your trip to Montana. Seeing King speak in person is an amazing. He's so funny! And a cutie!

As far as I've been able to learn...there are 400 signed copies at each event, 1100 copies total.. my wife and I are going.. my odds are about 1/3 of getting a signed copy... I've got every finger, toe, eyelash etc crossed...we will see on Monday

This was one thing I noticed.. The day I got it.. That the "g" was a squiggle that look like hesitation.. Unless Uncle Steve suddenly had a hand cramp, it just didn't look right to me
My most current signed copies have the same "G" in question. Maybe SK just doesn't realized that his signature has changed a bit??? Not trying to question the man himself, but if going by the G mine looks very, very close.

Bt if you look at the rest of the signature (between the 'S' and the 'G'), it doesn't match Mr. King's signature at all. Despite the changes in his signature over the years, it remains recognizably his, largely because of that center section--that's become more compressed, but the shapes of the letters (height, etc) remain the same. I think the OP's copy is a forgery by someone who knew enough to get th big things right, but not enough to get the rest of it on spot.

By the way, jlfullerton , I commend you on how reasoned your response has been. You are a gentleman/woman, with a wonderful grandmother. The love is what matters--the rest is just ink and paper :)

Well, I just view it as a life lesson--never again on Ebay--never, with signatures. And the Good Lord blessed me with a second chance to get an authentic autograph that cannot be disputed tonight. I appreciate your kind words--but in the end, what more can I do than move on...I'm just glad that I'm getting to know all the beautiful folks on here. It's a blessing to know you all.

Last point--I believe the signature to be a forgery, but was just playing with the "what if"--the person I bought it from has gone mysteriously (suspiciously) silent since I questioned her about the book....

One last note that I'll have to check.. Steve mentioned tonight his preference for blue pens--and the pic I have of the signing, he is using a blue pen, but I believe the copy I have might be signed in black, but ill double check when I'm home.. that would definitely put the issue to bed.

Thanks all--best wishes!!

My book is indeed signed in blue pen.. Still wonder whether or not it is real.. But The King himself thinks not, so not sure what to think..

Amen to that.. I'm desperate.. I considered offering people money as they left the venue for their signed copies.. But that would probably be in bad taste.. I just want one.so.BAD!
I must admit I thought of doing a lot worse than that to get a signed book. There was a guy offering to buy signed books at the event in St. Louis but I just couldnt bring myself to let mine go

your Grandma did a wonderful thing for you she is gone but whether the sig is real or not does not matter in the context of her gift
the money is gone there is no way to get it back so what difference does it make if it is real at this point
it looks close enough even if it's not real you're not going to resell so it might as well be real...

Here is my signed 11/22/63. I bought mine from Betts so I am confident its real. I noticed mine has the I dotted. But they are pretty close to each other.

It does look pretty close....who knows. Maybe my kids or grandkids can sell it for enough to recover what I spent on the book someday.. until then, I'll cherish it for the meaning it holds.
