I am a youngish professor of engineering and a fellow constant reader. *One hour ago* I was lucky to receive a signed 1st edition of The Shining from an amazing woman and it encouraged me to start using some of the energy I have been putting into writing scientific papers into writing fiction. This Day is #0.
There are few people in history that could influence me in this way: Newton, Maxwell, Cobain...anymore? The only living person is Stephen King. Yes, I am of course influenced all the time in many good and bad ways by the people I meet and follow in literature, textbooks, conferences...but I think those on this website will understand what I mean.
probably a post just for myself, to express my excitement. If any of you could let SK know that he is welcome to visit my lab (a lot of cool robots and machines that I know he'd find interesting), please do.
