Huge fan of SK for over 20 years. I get pimply goosebumps when he releases a new book. Why do some of the 'fans' here waste our time, his time, or his publisher's time with post's which have nothing to do with his work? There is an infinite number of sites where you can post your ignorant ideas about god, social issues, or who won on last night's Bachelor. Please, let's not sully this forum with such nonesense.
Welcome to the SKMB - I am happy to hear you are such a huge fan of Stephen King. Do you really think we waste his time (really?) I would not go to Facebook (for example) to post my ignorant ideas as I am not too thrilled with Facebook - too big, too many ads, requests to play games with people, suggestions on what I should "like" etc. I do kinda like your use of the word sully however. I have not heard that one used since my old Sergeant got his sports car stolen in Edmonton. He said to the insurance adjuster that he wanted his car detailed and to quote him, he said "They have sullied my car".

Welcome anyway and I hope you are just having a bad hair day. The old board was probably more to your liking but we had an upgrade on October 31st (Hallowe'en) - rather appropriate don't you think?

Welcome to the Board! I am also glad you are a fan of Stephen King. But I am sorry you do not understand the meaning of this place... We are like a real family here, this is a place where we can come, discuss our favorite books, movies... And when in need we always support one another. Most of the people here are very welcoming and caring. I think you would not be able to find so many good people in one place anywhere else (IMHO). And our ideas, they partly result from the SK works, he makes us think about things and we share them here. He inspires people with his work and this is one good place that gets us all together... Isn't that a good thing?

This is the best place to be online OP. If you don't like it, don't stay. But it would be a terrific shame, this is one of the best places to be online, I have often browsed the threads dedicated to the work of our favourite writer, contributed, enjoyed, and also love all the chatty stuff on here as well. Are you from the UK, I ask because of your turn of phrase within your post. Which leads me to believe you might have been a little heavy handed with the irony. At least that's what I HOPE you were being. Ironic.

I think Tina is either fuming right now that people are still being silly, or she(?) is annoyed that no-one has really taken the bait in the way that was expected.

If it was not an attempt to just set off fireworks and sit back and watch, then welcome to the place. If you can see past the general stuff then you are welcome to start or join discussions about his works, as neesy said the old board was full of discussions - sensible ones, and oppinions - good and bad. The board in this format is only a month or so old, here is a link to the old board, I'm sure no-one will mind if you resurrect some old topics. StephenKing.com Message Board

I'm sure if Stephen himself didn't want the place to be light hearted, friendly, and sociable, then he would have told Ms. Mod - she is/was a PA kind of person to him, even getting a dedication in one of the Dark Towers. So if he had a problem with it, then she would moderate it.

If you can't see past it, then there is not much we can do.

....and pray tell me Tara....what is none-sense?...something that is bereft of it's senses, like you-when you join a COMMUNITY and immediately set out to alienate 99% of it???...I love your fragrance, Eau-da-Troll...now, KRF says I might fling poo, but I also don't care to have myself or any of my family on this Board crapped on...if you had done due diligence, you would have seen we ARE, first and foremost fans of da Man...but like any community, there are other "neighborhoods" we like to visit, and not spend our entire day fawning over King...he and his staff(more of my extended family)have provided us a wide ranging forum to discuss as we wish within certain normal constraints...you present yourself apparently as a "Guardian of Steve" and his "Holy Writ", but by being so callous and rude-fly in the face of everything Steve and this Board represent...you should be ashamed...

Very well said...as a newbie joining the site as it is now then people could easily be under the impression that King's works are rarely discussed here. If the OP is still around then I suggest they definitely click the above link and visit some of the King threads on the old board...there sure are some lively discussions floating around on there! Happy reading.

Anyhoo, I'm currently laying in my sick bed--cough cough, sniffle sniffle--so may hang around and create a few new threads myself today.

Hope you feel better, Ally........

Thanks lovey. I'm the world's worst sick person, but I think nurses always are...we're supposed to be invincible!

Ooh, and I forgot to say earlier, while I can understand the OP's "frustration" at the lack of King discussions, that doesn't excuse the fact that (s)he was extremely discourteous in their postings. Good to see some things never change here...:tounge:

I think it is! I persevered and went to work for two days while run-down, but yesterday they had to send me home...where I spent 22-hours in bed sleeping it off, in between hallucinating and sweating it all out of me. I feel like poo, to put it politely!

Anyhoo, I've once again brought this thread off topic...sorry Flakes.

Welcome to the Board tara. It's a shame you didn't happen upon the old board and do some poking around the threads there. If you had, you'd have found out that we do discuss King's works, as well as many things in life that relate to some of our favorite stories. If you start a new thread here about one of your favorite books, you will find that many of us will reply (even if it's something we've already hashed out, it's okay, when it comes to Sai Kin, we like to rehash). So, please, post about a book! My favorite is the Dark Tower (I consider all the books to be one story)....ready? Post!
