Philip Roth tried to correct a major fact error in his Wikipedia biography...Wikipedia editors wouldn't allow it, telling him that he simply was not a credible source. Heh! Dontcha just luv it? Wikipedia articles contradict peer-reviewed research papers 90% of the time. Consulting Wikipedia is like asking Grandpa (not our Grandpa) what's for supper...just before he sticks his fingers through the panes to tell us.

Wikipedia equals not to be trusted. Too many extremely subjective writers there. According to their sourcerule anything that is written in a book, or an article, is a legitimit source. Then it doesn't matter if the author just pick the crackpot sources out of that heap. One day a subject might be fine and the next wildly biased. Wikipedia is like the weather, it fluctuates too much to be trusted without checking other sources.

The word notable just means "worthy of attention or notice." It can also mean "remarkable." I think those definitions definitely describe those books/stories. Notable does not mean "best" so I am OK with this.
But then there's this person's list of five, then that person's list, so logically a perfect list of five must exist; all we have to do is find it.

Sidebars have limited space.

...I don't agree...said it dozens of times, that crap is so subjective as to be completely useless....

There are definitely errors in Wikipedia e.g. they said four people died in the plane crash in Alert, when it was actually five.

I also remember seeing that John Dalglish would quote Wikipedia - do you think it has changed much since that time?

I personally wouldn't use it as a source. What it can do is point you to actual sources. Too often so called edit wars break out with one changing and another changing back. It can often be rather major changes. But there are parts of it that are good but i feel Wikipedia is a case of too many chefs to make a really good soup.

I suppose it's what the "general public" would know, and, I believe these are the most "known" by non-SK fans.

My husband didn't even know Misery and SSR were by King.
