5) Insidious-About halfway through we realized we had already watched it back when it came out.HOWEVER, that didn't stop my heart from jumping into my throat when the Darth Maul looking guy appeared! (Did anyone notice the gloves or nails on him look similiar to what a character of AHS Hotel is wearing?)

20 Underrated Horror Movies You Need to See

Let me know if you watch any of them. I've seen 2 of them I think. I tend to go for old horror but trying to add ones I've never seen.
I've seen six of them, and part of a seventh (I tried to watch Dead Silence the other night, but I fell asleep). I'd planned to watch Honeymoon tonight, so that works out :). Of the ones I've seen, I liked Contracted, The Possession (but that may be my slight crush of Jeffrey Dean Morgan talking--lol), and The Babadook. Drag Me To Hell was dumb, and so was You're Next. House of Wax was meh.

I've seen four of the 20. I think most of my favorite horror movies are oldies too, but love when I find something newer I really like. Those look great, thanx Deej!

13. The Vault of Horror 1973 -- One of my favorites in the anthology category. 5 out of 5

You know they did a Tales From The Crypt flick, too. Came before Vault, 1970or 72, probably. Same production company (A.I.P.?) Great adaption of And All Though The House, (killer Santa story) featuring Joan Collins as the doomed femme fatale. Peter Cushing in another great adaption of Gastly Graham Ingel's Poetic Justice.

I absolutely know this! The anthologies are my favorite and the old British ones are the best. Amicus and Hammer are my favorite horror studios.

I love those anthologies (Tales From the Crypt, Vault of Horror). Don't forget The Monster Club.

Here's another addition to the marathon. I just finished watching it. A Christmas Horror Story.

Wow...this was excellent. Superb. If you love Trick 'r Treat, you will love A Christmas Horror Story. Has a similar feel and structure (anthology, but seamlessly integrated; although, Treat is probably structured more like Pulp Fiction, whereas this one is a little different). But I have to say, what is so great about it is, as the scenes and the story move along, the movie keeps topping itself. Every idea, concept, etc., gets better and better. It's also very scary at times (to me, anyway). I did a lot of bringing-the-hand-up-to-the-face-because-the-movie-is-about-to-suddenly-shock-me-now.

I believe this one is a hybrid release, so it might be in some theaters as well as pay-per-view (which is how I watched it). Therefore, maybe many of you have not seen it. Not only is this great for Halloween, but you will want to see it on Christmas Eve as well. I hope the DVD is out by then.

Seriously, we have another Trick 'r Treat on our hands, my friends. Instant horror classic. I have no idea why they didn't try to give this one a bigger theatrical release. Probably because there really wasn't a star in it. William Shatner did serve as sort of a wraparound device, though. Maybe some won't agree with my assessment, but I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

Honeymoon - (2013) Cute young people on their honeymoon at a cabin in Canada. Second night in, the wife disappears for a while, then comes back acting very strange.

I liked this one. The relationship felt real, the weirdness built up gradually, and it was well-thought-out. Not a huge leap in logic to be found. The ultimate cause was meh for me, but I felt huge sympathy for the poor guy. (FTV)

8- Demon Hunter (2005) – Wow, this one was bad! Acting was bad, special effects were bad, half-breed human/demons were silly. :sigh: At least it was short.

9- Scream (1996) – To make myself feel better for wasting my time on Demon Hunter, I rewatch this gem! I had forgotten 1) that Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich from this also starred in The Craft and 2) how many fun easter eggs were in this
like the 2 second shot of the janitor dressed in a Freddy Kruger sweater and hat right before Henry Winkler gets slashed!

2015 list:

1- Pet Semetary (1989) – First saw this one in the theater and try to catch it every year. Still scares the pants off me, and it’s a nice bonus to see Mr. King in his cameo.

2- Ghost Voyage (2008) – Oh boy! This was just bad. Acting was bad, special effects were corny. It has an interesting premise but just not what I was hoping for. Oh well. I’m at 2 on day 2 so that’s a good start for me!
3- Sinister (2012) – Holy crap! First time seeing this one. I am sufficiently creeped out! P.S. I don’t watch other people’s home movies, so there is that going for me!
4- The Mothman Prophecies (2002) – Richard Gere hears weird voices on his motel phone telling of impending tragedy. The story was weird and not terribly scary, but supposedly based on true events. The best part was the director’s use of mirrors in the filming.

5- A Haunting in Connecticut 2: Georgia Ghosts (2013) – Apparently the original film was set in Connecticut. This one was set in Georgia, so not sure why it was named as it was. A family moves into a house that was used in the Underground Railroad, and has many restless spirits. Meh.

6- The Craft (1996) – I know I watch this one every year at this time. I can’t help it. Robin Tunney plays a new girl in town who falls in with 3 young girls who want to be witches. She completes their circle and they soon become more powerful than they can handle. Good campy fun!

7- Witchboard (1986) – Tawny Kitaen flirts with danger by using a Ouija board alone. Another blast from my past that is not a great movie, but near and dear to my heart. My first watch via You Tube! Thanks skimom2!
