The 31 Terrifying Films To Stream This October list is interesting. I don't agree with some of the names on the list -- some weren't full of enough Halloween for me -- but I assume it is a bit limited to whatever streaming device it is referencing (Netflix?) and whatever films it currently has on its service. I agree with Scream, certainly; as the comment in the article stated, it is difficult to imagine what horror films of today would look like without that movie. The first Saw was excellent -- it really wasn't about the gore, it was more of an Edgar Allan Poe tale (I'm sure those who have seen it know which Poe tale I am referring to in particular, but also the traps were Poe-like without being Poe-like at all). The rest of the films in the series were absolutely boring, because they were about the gore and all kinds of soap-opera stuff. Some here in the thread have mentioned It Follows -- I have not seen that, but will try to. Honestly, the premise and trailer did not seem interesting to me, but I will keep an open mind.
I like to try to catch The Monster Club (with Vincent Price, an anthology film), Satan's Little Helper (this one is a lot of fun), Prince of Darkness (I read somewhere that shortly before Halloween a screening of the film will be held in the church that was used in the film; I mean, how cool is that), and Trick 'r Treat (oh yes, a new classic). I'll also add a newer film to the list -- The Houses That October Built. Please note I may have mentioned these films in last year's thread, so forgive me for repeating myself.
