4) The Yellow Wallpaper (2012)-Pretty awful movie. This Perkins-Gilman short story was discussed on another thread, so I thought I'd check out the movie. The lead actor is godawful, but the rest of the actors are okay. The music is overwrought, and WAY too loud--I had to keep turning it up to hear the dialogue, especially of the wife, and down when the music was going. It had a few attempted creepy moments and ended up as a vampire movie (I think). After watching it, I looked it up on IMDb and found out that it only has a passing connection with the story. Disappointing. At least now I know I'd like to read the story :) I've only read Herland by Perkins-Gilman, so reading the story sounds like the ticket. This movie is NOT it.(FTV) Now I'm watching a documentary that's pretty interesting about the original movie monsters :)

6) Hostel by Eli Roth (2005) Wellmade but not exactly my thing. Dont visit hostels in slovakia......
7) Insidious (2010) This was good. A creepy story about a living child lost among the dead and the families tries to get him back among the living....

First leg of my marathon movie watching was yesterday. It was cold, windy, foggy. and rainy here....the gloom made for a really good day of movie watching. I still only got in about 5 (which is nothing compared to someone's 11 in three days), but it was fun.

1. Trick or Treat ~ Interesting take on the anthology. All four stories were actually connected by a common thread. Other than that, it was like your average '80s horror/slasher flick. I like cheesy horror sometimes, so I'll give it 3 out of 5 stars....this was the first time I've seen this one, so those stars are likely to decrease next time around.

2. Cirque Du Freak, The Vampire's Assistant ~ I love me some vampire movies, but I can't say much about this one. It was just okay.
Two kids go to the freak show, and both eventually end up being turned into vampires. One is good, one is evil. Also a first time view, I kept waiting for this one to get good, but it didn't. 1 out of 5 stars.

3. Stakeland ~ Another first time view for me, and also a vampire flick. I've got to watch this one again, because I had several distractions......but I think I liked it. A man and a teenage boy are making their way north to find a life without a plague that turns people into vampires. I found the story interesting. 3 out of 5 stars.

4. Daybreakers ~ First time view. Futuristic story about a world that is run by vampires, and humans are captured and farmed as a source of blood. One vampire has had enough, and tries to help the humans. While I didn't find this one particularly scary, the story was interesting and well acted. 3 out of 5 stars.

5. Byzantium ~ First time view, and also another vampire flick. I swear I didn't plan this!
The story of two female vampires who are on the run after one of them beheads a man in their home. As the story unfolds, the younger one tells the story of how they became vampires. This is a slightly different take on the vampire film. It was interesting, if not scary.
3 out of 5 stars.

Yeah, that's what my kid says too. "Mommmmm! It's NOT porno."

Hey, when he was doing coke of the girl's azz in the first seconds of the film, (say this in a high, sing-song voice) -- Porrrrrnoooo. It's just me. Everyone else viewed it as a masterpiece.

I agree with you about 2-4 (just average, though my kids liked #2 quite a bit). I liked Byzantium, though it wasn't scary, it was interesting. I'd probably go 4 for that one. And I've never seen Trick 'r Treat! I've been trying to find it to watch it :(

LOL! You have a strict definition of porn :) I need more than nudity to make that distinction. Excessive, very graphic sexual activity or excessive, stomach churning violence. OR sex and violence mixed and over the top--Cronenberg regularly skates that line brilliantly.

Wolf of Wall Street bored the hell out of me, but I don't worship at the shrine of Scorsese, either. I don't like many of the social commentary movies about the 80s (and given by druthers, I'd choose American Psycho--lol); boring, when you lived in the era.

I was just playing here. Need to remember not everyone gets my humor.
