2016 has finally arrived! Surprisingly, it's looking good for your friendly neighborhood SwiftDog already!

So why is it so good so far? I start a new job on the 4th! SwiftDog has gone Federal! As in I will be a civilian employee for a Federal Agency. That's right! SwiftDog can now be subversive within the belly of the beast!

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to it. I had been with the same family of companies for over 20 years and had pretty much plateaued career growth and salary wise. It was time for a change. This new role gives me a significant salary bump, better benefits, and an honest to goodness pension if I am still there after five years.

This opportunity came my way via a former co-worker and things fell into place pretty quickly. I'm a little scared but, to paraphrase Joel Godson, in Risky Business, Sometimes you gotta say "what the f***" and make your move!

The only drawback is I now have to take the commuter rail into Boston every day (which isn't cheap). Means getting up earlier but the total time on the train will probably be shorter than the amount of time I spent sitting in traffic just trying to get out of the industrial park my former employer was in.

Anyways, just wanted to share with my friends here on the board. I hope that everyone else gets a positive start to the year as well!

Great thread! Good job swiftdog. Get a rail pass! When I worked in Seattle I saved a bundle by buying a month to month pass.
I plan on continuing on this year with gratitude and a positive attitude. I've found that I attract what I reflect, so I need to stay positive to deflect negativity. This bit of Metaphysical-Magical-Thinking has been working for me, so I'm going to keep doing it.
This year I am going to rid myself of bad kitchen karma ju-ju, with the help of my little friend Strega Nottie. ;-D

:smile2:

Did mine now. I had to got to a Wallgreens. Did not want to. Never been. Needed stuff, random things. This customer service person was so excellent.
I can't even say. I did not even ask for anything special. Just needed basics, shampoo and such.

I got back and called the corporate office, gave her name and the location.
I guess they were full of complaints, but she thanked me and made sure it would get back to her manager, how good she was. The operator was quite pleased.

Yay. Happy New Year.

Yay swiftdog! The Ogre went Federal last February. No complaints here - good benefits, good salary, little chance of outsourcing. We're pleased. May it do ya fine!

So glad to hear good things are on the horizon for you pegasus216 .

So far here nothing new, but nothing bad either, so that's good.

not_nadine That totally cracks me up that you've never been in Walgreens. I guess I feel like I live in there because : kids. Someone's always needing meds.

Patricia A I like that - my Mamaw had a kitchen witch. And she was always a happy, positive, peaceful woman.
