((NN)) holding you close in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this. Do reach out to local churches and community services. We've helped parishioners and neighbors down on their luck. Usually it involves meeting with a committee and devising plan to pay it back - because it's money that's kept in a fund to help others, but it's not unheard of. St. Vincent DePaul is the local clearing house here too.

One more thought. There is, or used to be maybe, a nonprofit and maybe subsidized service for indigent legal aid. It's usually a sliding scale basis, down to free. I can't remember the name of the agency. I think it's a public/private endeavor. They end up doing lots of landlord/tenant issues, because that's where the bulk of people with few resources have their legal issues. (Not criminal work, though. That's the province of the public defender or appointed counsel.)

I can't promise you that it's stellar legal advice, or even that it's available in your area, but you may be able to find out more than you know now, and affordably so. Go to Google and type in "legal aid <your state>." For instance, in Colorado, it's simply called "Colorado Legal Services," and it's a got a pretty straightforward looking web design to try to look up and find the help you might need.

Good luck!!!

They have an Emergency Rent Assistance loan service where I live in Florida. I've never had to use it but I know a few that have. You can only do it once from what I gather but it might be worth looking into.

Rent Assistance Programs

I used Google and came up with that link, look around the site and see if there are any services in your area.

Best I can do.......

Good luck though, I'll be rooting for you

Behind you
I was such a mess. I felt myself starting to cry just sitting there listening to the other cases.

When it was my turn, it was just the property manager and myself and the judge.
When it was my turn, I could not even speak. I broke down totally.
I managed to tell him that I was in the hospital for 37 days and that I have never been late or missed rent before. And please don't let them evict me.

He said he would make his decision in 3 days. I managed to say thank you and ran out crying. But I did hear the property manager telling him that if we did this for her we will have to do it for everyone.

I did not expect to behave that.

I owe the rent, and next month will be due soon. I don't know when unemployment is going to come through. I am looking frantically for a job.

Stay in the positive and hold only positive thoughts. The property manager is looking out for himself and future possibilities of needing to give in on rent. However, it is up to the judge to make the final decision. May he be guided to see your needs. Maybe he'll see that you have been a good tenant, did the right thing with going to hospital, and are seeking work, etc. Compassion may enter his judgment.

How is your credit??

There has got to be somebody in your area that will give you a loan. Do you have any kind of collateral you could put up?? If you don't have a history of defaulting on loans and don't owe a ton in credit there should be somebody out there who can float you what you need.

I hate to see anybody stressing over things like this. Just keep pursuing whatever options are available, ask around and hopefully you'll find some way to make it out of this on top.

Stay positive.

I just found out that I am going to be getting unemployment. Oh My God. I can breath.

It is enough to pay the rent, but not the back rent. I will think about that later. OMG Thank God and for all of your thoughts and prayers. Its not over yet, but I have hope.

Can you inform the court/judge that you will be receiving unemployment- fax documentation to the county clerks office. May help in his decision. Also you may be able to make partial payments on the back rent until you are caught up.
Holiday weekend, so courts might be closed- but make it known when you are contacted. Positive vibes.

That's good news! You'll figure this out - it's going to be OK.
