I am blaming you guys. I won't name names.

I fell asleep with it again. Kicked it off the bed, twice. Now it's in serious danger of losing the screen. Cracked hingy part and looks like something is trying to escape from the top of the keys.

Any ideas of a good one, at a good price? I have had this for about 4 yrs. Toshiba.

Rather than a new laptop, have you thought about something like a 'tablet'? - I was looking at the Samsung version of the iPad and I think I may ask for this for Christmas.

I got an Intel Nextbook for a backup. It's small, compact, static drive so it's more durable and boots up faster, touchscreen, the bells and whistles of the other computers, the screen detaches to become a tablet, and just generally has been an impressive little computer, especially for the $249 that I paid for it.

The only brand I won't recommend from experience is an Acer notebook. Those things break easily. There was a closed one on my bed one time and I put my knee on it and it broke, wouldn't turn on.

I guess there are a few lemons in every bunch. I've had ACER, VAIO, HP, and Dell over the years and no hardware issues at all. If you are going for a laptop get at least and i7 quad core (or AMD equivalent) with at least 8GB of RAM. Newer laptops don't come with a disk drive anymore unless you specifically require one. I use an external one from work when I need it from time to time. Good hunting!
