I could have sworn that I read a short story about a guy who was up on a roof, seemingly about to kill himself, which wasn't by SK, but was published as an extra bit in one of the more recent SK books. And it was awesome.
Problem is that having looked through my collection, I cannot find it anywhere, Google has been no help and am worried I might be going nuts - if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about and knows the name of the story, or at least which book it came with, I would be forever grateful.

Thanks

:pig_food: Also, seriously, how cute is the pig!

The short story The Ledge sort of fits that one, but it is definitely Mr. King. That bit with the pigeon pecking the protagonist's bare ankle has always stuck with me.

Any chance that's the version of On Writing that was published in England? There was a short story competition that went along with On Writing and the winning entry got published in the paperback edition. I've read On Writing a fair few times but I originally had it in hardback and I think I only read the winning short story in the paperback once, but that description is ringing a bell. I'm thinking young man in multi story shopping mall about to hurl himself off the top floor?

LanaBanana - I think you may be confused.

It sounds like a good idea for a story though!

Yes, now that you mention it. But that is an SK story.

Ooops - sorry LanaBanana - looks like I stand corrected!:a11:

No confusion about the story (maybe about the idea that little piggies look cute rather than delicious).

It's called 'Jumper' and it's by Garrett Addams.

It appears in the English paperback edition of 'On Writing', at least it does in my copy.

Oh My God - it is! It is Jumper!! I must have read it in the 2001 paperback version, but it's not in the 2012 version (damn my obsessive need to have matching covers).
Thank you so much!

Also thanks all for the welcome :biglove:
