This happened yesterday:
Bill seeks to encourage filmmaking in Maine, create local jobs — Politics — Bangor Daily News — BDN Maine
A local company called Bonfire Films went and spoke at the hearing. I know one of the guys in the company and he said this: (copied and pasted from his FB post) "I would like to take a moment to thank the members of The Maine Film Community who came out to the State House today to testify in support of Bill LD1004. For over an hour, we delivered thoughtful, heartfelt and informative testimonies to committee as to why incentives are needed for our state. The bill has a workshop session slated for next Tuesday. It may take several before it goes out to vote. I look forward to reading Scott Hamann's bill, which was published Friday, that also addresses film incentives. I hope to see even more of you at the hearing for that bill."
They're actually going to be filming One For the Road in Southern Maine so I hope this works out for them and future filmmakers!
