I am from The UK and don't know these US expressions...

I was making a play on words. When you posted What's Soppin? to me it sounded like What's Happening? a greeting in place of Hello or Hi! we use here at times. The response when asked What's Happening? can be what anything from what your are actually doing to Not much, what's up with you? Like I posted. Sorry for being so silly...and I'm sure one of our awesome southern folk for will be along to explain Soppin. :D

I've lived in and around Reno, Nevada my entire life. I'm very much a Westerner, and I love my state. It's perfectly legal to open carry here, and you can carry concealed if you have a permit. Hunting, fishing, hiking, outdoor sports in general are easy to pursue in this area, and you're maybe an hour away from Lake Tahoe or Virginia City. Mustangs still run free in the Virginia City Highlands, and it's not hard to drive around and see a herd or three. And the amount of open space in this area makes it super easy to go "booney bashing". Plus, you can go and buy yourself a drink anytime, anywhere. You can gamble in a grocery store, (not that i do) and there are still places where you can smoke indoors.

All that being said, I would love to visit the South someday. It's on my bucket list to see what the heck a bayou is, and just maybe go fishing for Alligator Gar. Go through Kentucky and get a tour of Claiborne Farms. And see just how much I fit in with the Southern mentality; I've always got people telling me they think I'm from the South!

Was that with a biscuit, or were you caught in a rainstorm, and soppin' wet?
LOL. Actually it was both. Raining in Atlanta and I was taken to dinner by the head of Delta flight attendants. I was made to partake in the pleasure of soppin' with biscuits. I developed an instant love of the South.

So come on... explain it now to stevegane.

OK, think I've got it, in Britain when you dip biscuits in tea it's called dunking. I hear the expression slam-dunk on American TV shows, what does that mean?

Our biscuits are a bread. Sometimes, we use one to "sop" any remaining gravy, meat drippings, or other food liquids off the plate and eat it.
You can also be "soppin' wet".....which means you're drenched like in a heavy rain storm.
