"What a beautiful and amazing creature! Let's kill it." - The human race, probably.

Pucker: A guy at the SeaLife centre in Birmingham said something similar to my nephew a few years back. My then-12 year old nephew replied "It's also because we evolved on land while they evolved in water. We're nothing to them". I was quite proud.

Another thing he told me was that most shark "attacks" occur in less than three feet of water, to which I asked the all-time stupid question: "Why do you suppose that is?"

Ummm . . . because that's where the people are.

Duh!

I don't often feel like an idiot, but when I do . . .

; )

I talked to a guy at the Seaquarium in Nawlins one time who told me that sharks don't actually like to eat people. People don't taste very good to a shark. Not oily enough. So what happens is that the shark bites you, realizes you're not a sea lion and spits you out.

And then you bleed to death or drown.

Fun times!
Thats comforting.

Same thing with gators. They don't really like people.
...but they love ham. So if there's somebody you really need to get rid of, time some pork roasts to 'em.
Not that I know this from experience or anything.
