_images_slideshow_2007_11_gallery_star_trek_monsters_tmmugato.jpg After watching the star trek marathon this past weekend, was wondering whose monster is the best? I kind of like the Gorn, not just because he was a musclebound green slow moving lizard, but he also taunted Kirk, with prefaces of hissing..I also include the Horta,an acidic kind of lasagna, the Salt sucker, and the Mugato,a hairy white ape with a horn in the forehead..fifth choice is yours.. ;)320x240 gorn.jpg 270px-STDevil_inTheDark.jpgtmsaltvampire.jpg

Salt sucker!
Although, I really loved these creatures from Catspaw. They were made from a little bit of everything, tassels, pipe cleaners, beads and you could see the fishing line that moved them!!!!

nope...lucky bastid! heh! funny, i watched that show religiously but I don't recall any of the monsters. saw one pic of "the keeper"...him I remembered. they always played that music loud and fast, the robot would be going bonkers...and they...never...showed...the...monster. maybe a glimpse. the cyclops for one second...gaaaaaaaa! kinda like dark shadows...watched that one waiting for the werewolf to show but all they gave you was a horny hand on the bed clutching the mattress, all these paroxysms of agony, the clawed fingers clutching at the mattress.

tune in next week, same bat channel! same bat time!

Does it have to be from the original series? Because I found the alien things that kidnapped Riker (amongst others) and chopped off and reattached his arm in the episode called "Schisms" to be uber creepy. And I'm not usually affected by aliens at all!

No hard and fast rules,I would say any monster from the star trek franchise is okay, would put that one in the "other" selection.. ;)

Well, the sentimental favorite is the salt monster, because that was the first Star Trek episode I ever saw.

The Horta holds a special place because: 1) it brought the possibility of silicon-based life to the mainstream; 2) it taught a whole different level of understanding of "monster" (it was just protecting its chilidren!); and 3) they used the Mangani term in the Tarzan books for "boar" - not that anyone noticed.

But my real favorite Star Trek monster would be the Borg. I mean, talk about an unplacable, seemingly invincible enemy. That creation took "adversary" to a whole different level. What if you're facing destruction ("assimilation") by something like that? Great creativity there.

Here is the Borg for those not familiar..upload_2016-9-14_10-46-41.pnglooks like a real rip off of the cameraman in Hellraiser that was turned into a demon by Pinhead..

I never thought about the Horta name like that before, even though I was an avid reader of the ERB Tarzan books as a kid! ha,that is funny, don't know how I missed it..after all,how many times did Tarzan make a meal of Horta, then wiping his greasy fingers, curled up in the bole of a great tree for a nap..

Another implacable enemy was the Doomsday Machine..though not very visually stunning,it looked kind of like an old hollow dog turd cruising through space, eating everything up..
