I am curious about where/when other people are " transported" to when reading Stephen King books? Is there something in his books that pops up repeatedly and never fails to have the same effect on you every time you read it?

For me it is whenever he describes the quality of light on a summer morning.Without fail one of two scenarios pop into my head.In one I am around eight years old and standing on the lawn around eight am and it is dead silent except for a constant buzzing noise( cicadas) that I always thought signaled a really hot day ahead .It feels like I was probably the only kid on our block up and out and was waiting for my pals to come out.I can clearly picture everything around me and the "feel" of that moment. It is a memory that always makes me smile. The other scenario is again early in the morning, must have been around the same age and most of the neighborhood kids( including myself) are piling into a station wagon and heading to a PAL kickball game at Deering Oaks and dreading the sweltering heat that was sure to show up.I remember these things better than I remember what I did last week.
The phrase Something Happened also always gives me a jolt and triggers alot of more recent memories. It's weird to think that when/if I am in my 70's or 80's this phrase will transport me back to my forties. Huh,that's actually pretty cool.I may never have a TARDIS but I will always have my Stephen King books( knock on wood).

Mr. King's books have been a constant since I was about ten years old. Certain books remind of good times, others of bad times, still others remind of times best forgotten. But, through it all, his books have made those times a bit better, a bit easier, or a bit more bearable. That's the reason I'm so fond of the man and his skills.

I can't think of a personal memory that sK causes to emerge, but there might've been some. It seems likely there would be. I am transported though to the places he wants me to visit.
