I have driven cross country many times. This should be a very exciting trip for you being your first. I remember how excited I was first time I drove from GA to CA, then when I drove from CA to PA it got a little less exciting and then.. well you get the point.
I have a few suggestions that echo some of the above responses.

Take a friend!! that is a long drive and can be quite boring at times no matter how exciting it may be. Many reasons for this, Safety of course, you are a young girl. Traveling alone cross country for first time isn't the best idea. BUT if you do decide to go it alone, make sure you take plenty of time to actually make the trip with stops to rest included. Hotel money, and all that stuff.

See stuff on the way, make a list of things you would like to see, you will more than likely not do many trips like this in your life, its an event, make it one. Landmarks, oddities, special places to eat, ect. do your research and make this memorable.

I hope you get to make the event, sounds like this would be a once in a lifetime moment for you. Just be ready to get those tickets second they go on sale as you know these events sell out quite quickly.

Keep us updated.
NOt goin cant get the time off work. what a rip off. I have no vacation and unless surgery is magically scheduled to where I would have time off anyway then it is a no go.

Can't you just take a few sick days off. You must get sick leave where you work. I bet you don't ever hardly take any sick days off so you must have a whole bunch of them accumulated, and it will work good for you because when you're not there for a few days they will appreciate how much you're missed. If I lived in America, I would go depending on how far I had to drive. I think I would take a train and book one of those cabins and travel in class.

No We get 24 hours wellness time a year. And two weeks vacation. I burnt it all up at the beginning of the year trying to get my shoulder to heal up before I knew how serious of an injury it was. OH well

Have to admit I've never heard of Lee Child. At first I though it was the guy from the Six Million Dollar Man.
I can absolutely believe that. THe only reason I heard of him is because my cable tv went out when I was like 23. I went to wal mart and picked up this random book called nothing to lose. I finished it in three days. Just could not put it down. Then I found out it was a series and just started GOBBLING THOSE BOOKS UP. there was a point in time when lee child surpassed Stephen king in my reading favorites. But then stephen king took over again when I got a couple years older. So I am not really surprised that you have not heard of him. And unless you are in to the kind of novel you may not even like it as much as I did. I was going through a hard time then and loved the idea of some ex military man having trouble find him but him kicking the hell out of whatever trouble. Standing up for the good folks and beating up the bad ones lol.

So sorry you won't be there. :( I was looking forward to saying hello.
WEll in that case maybe I will not give up so easy. I am cutting it close though. tickets might be sold out already. gosh this will be hard but i will try. IT is funny because they just told us at work today that we have to get WAY MORE PRODUCTION in september then we ever have before. so even if I had vacation they probably would not give it to me. But maybe it will land on a three day weekend or the plant will shut down. I could take a gray hound or something I dont know. This is such an epic event to me. I mean just being there with my two favorite authors. No books being signed no meet and greet and it would still be EPIIIIIIIIC!!!. we will see what happens it is not very far off so I will expect the worst and hope for the best then you are not disapointed. If I do not make it I will just keep my goal of getting SK autograph on Hearts in Atlantis. As long as you got a dream and work towards it life is less hard. So I can't let this get me down if I can not achieve it. I will just achieve something else. Right guys?

I salute anyone who finds something to read at Walmart. I see stacks of Bill O'Reilly and lots of weird religious stuff. My favorite Bill O'Reilly title is "Killing Reagan" since he wasn't actually killed but survived his assassination attempt. But almost killed doesn't sell books. Still think Lee Majors would make a better interview. Lindsay Wagner could show up and throw a few Kung fu kicks assuming she is still alive. That would be worth battling Mass. traffic to see.

Tickets won't be going on sale until August 11th so no sell out yet. As much as I would like to say hello, I wouldn't want you to jeopardize your job. Traveling by vehicle would probably take at least a week at the very minimum to get back/forth. As you say, if it's not this time then perhaps another. :smile2:

A WEEK forget that. NO way lol. Hopefully he will do another epic thing sometime after january of next year when I have vacation time. I will make my cousin brandon go with me. He is a tough looking cowboy. He is the kind of person when you see him in real life if you do not know him you would think "i wont mess with that guy" Maybe next year he will discuss lucas daventport with John lol. I wont even plan on this one. But it is okay i am not even upset over it. Just was not meant to be. HOpefully the youtube it though thanks Moderator keep on rockin in the free world. lol

Hey I am reading perter straub (other then when he worked with kind) for the first time because I cant find any king books i have not read in my book store. Which may sound surprising seeings how in my small town book store they have a wide variety of 5 stephen king books to choose from lol. So I am not a fan of dean koontz and have no idea what else to read. I am reading Mr.X. It has been ok so far. I like the complicated writing. I am going to try and find some more books because I like to read a few at the same time. That way when i get bored with one i can switch to another and go back and forth. Anyone got any good recommendations. I want a book I can not put down and want to read until my eyes pop out of my head. And even then I will want to just dust off my eyes and pop them back in and continue reading. ANYTHING FlakeNoir blunthead Debbie913 Moderator

Ms. Mod - you will be there? Hmmmm... maybe I should look into this! Oh - and I thought of you last week because we drove by the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park.
Must have been beautiful there this time of year but you only drove by? No stopping to check it out?

Yes, I'll be going down for that event and would love to meet up if you decide to come!
