Around the 55% mark of "On Writing: A Memoir For the Craft" Mr. King suggests an e-mail to let him know how it worked. I'm in no way expecting him to respond, rather I want to know where, on this forum, do I post the 3900 words?

Cheers,
Ken

One of the moderators will have to answer that - it is a technical question - sorry!! I wish I could help.

Hi and welcome to the site. :)

Unfortunately Stephen is no longer accepting submissions for the On Writing exercise and we don't allow people to post their writing directly to the MB, sorry. If you would like folks to read your story, you could begin a thread in the Self Promotion area and then post a link to your work offsite.

I used SK's fossil digging exercise and ended up with seven pages. My question: Is what I wrote tied to a copyright with SK's "On Writing: A Memoir For the Craft" or can I claim what I did off his - for lack of a better discription - outline, as my own work and put my name on it?

I think I remember Marsha (his PA) mentioning that it would be all right to put your own name to it. I guess giving him a mention somewhere in how the idea came about, wouldn't hurt either.

You might want to wait for confirmation on this though and Marsha is away on vacation until the 13th. I'll leave her an alert anyway.

You can put your own name to it even though the original inspiration was the writing exercise.
