Don't know if there has been a thread like this before but figured this would be fun.
I was watching an episode of Impractical Jokers last night and one of the people on there referenced Stephen King and that got me thinking of all the odd times or places something Stephen King has popped up in my life.
Such as your co-worker you have been working with for years is reading SK at lunch and come to find out they are a huge fan as well, or your at Disney world and someone has on a Pennywise shirt (not the band). Your watching your favorite mainstream sitcom comedy and you spot a copy of Cujo on the bookshelf. You get the point.
Share any times that Sai King has unexpectedly popped into your daily life.

Oh and I have to share this one, I was recently walking in the Mall with my better half, and both of us having a fair amount of tattoos I tend to notice others with them as well. But this instance I was observing a lady with this awful bunch of tattoos, that at first all I could notice was her entire arm was tattooed like corn stalks and corn, bright yellow corn and green stalks. And randomly placed throughout was the badly done portraits of multiple children. I turned to my girl and said, ohh my did you see that lady with her whole arm done like corn and those bad portraits of her kids? She looked at me and said, umm duhh "Children of the corn" I couldn't believe I didn't catch that!! I was just so mesmerized with the poor application that it didn't even register.
Also on a side note, I hope this lady is not on here, if so sorry, I can suggest a great artist to fix that up for you.

Anyways lets hear your stories cause I know almost everyone has one.

For me the ultimate was when I got my first job in publishing at Simon & Schuster. I had pretty much been in a "slump" as far as reading SK and did not even realize he was with Scribner (an imprint of S&S) until my first day on the job when I realized this Bag of Bones book I kept seeing around was a new book coming from him! I think that was his first book with Scribner.

Stranger things is full of references, the writers are huge fans and when they were making a logo for it they sent a copy of firestarter and said we want the font like that.

One of my favourite video games is called life is strange. The amount of King references in that just made me love it more. These are the ones I caught.

1, Main character looks at room 217 in her dorm and says "no way would I stay in there". Redrum is written on the slate.
2, She sees a dog and says he looks cute now but if I get too close - cujo.
3, Character called Kate marsh - middle name beverley.
4, In a crazy nightmarish scene a character called frank bowers says "rachel's floating down here in the sewers with me".
5, max says she might just go carrie on the vortex club.

I saw Steve on my toast this morning. ;-D

A few years back when my nieces were 8 and 11 years old, they were going on a long trip with their grandma (my mom). I'm sure mom had heard of Steve but she had never read one of his books and probably didn't know much about him. Anyway, mom decides to get an audiobook for the trip and guess what she randomly picked out? Pet Sematary. I'm not kidding. At first they were terrified but couldn't stop listening. Then it got to the point where they were traumatized and just had to stop. I have no idea what possessed my mother to pick out that book. ;-D My nieces told me about it later and I was stunned that my mom was listening to that book with them.

Haha, good stuff. So are you nieces fans or traumatized for life?

Cool, I am well aware of the references in Stranger things, almost to many to list them all.

And what game was this? Computer only or on a xbox or playstation?

While we were in Deadwood we stayed at the historic Franklin hotel. It was built in 1903. So there have been updates through the years, but they have tried to keep it as original as possible, and still have amenities for the guests. We loved it there.

I did not notice the first day, but the 2nd morning, we were waiting on the elevator and I noticed someone, at some point in time, had scratched REDRUM in the elevator door. The light had to hit it just right, they had done a good job of cleaning it up but when the light hit it just right you could see it.

I think graffiti and that sort of stuff is disrespectful, especially in a historic setting...But it gave me a chuckle to see REDRUM there, in Deadwood. ;-D
