Tell me and I'll read the book, don't tell me and I'll figure it out sometime in the future.

Okay, just cause you saved me from those rabid weasels that one time:

Can't get my spoiler working so anyone else who doesn't want to know, DONT LOOK ETHYL!

It was Cell.
Won't tell you which character, though. Gotta leave some surprise. Enjoy!

The leftover wreckage of the Hal Computer from 2001; A Space Oddessy. It keeps telling me, "I can't let you do that, Muskie." But it no longer has the power to stop me.

Actually, I think I'm frakin it up myself somehow. Still getting used to these iPads.
I haven't used an iPad, so not sure if the process is different?

Are you doing this?:

You can either type in the coding yourself by typing:
[ spoiler ] the words you want hidden followed by [ /spoiler ]
(just lose the gaps when you type it in)

Or highlight the words you want hidden click the insert button
insert-button.png
, and select Spoiler.

Thanx again. I'll try it like that next time. My trouble is I'm lazy about that stuff.

Thanx, Mod Squad. Dunno why my spoiler-wrapper ain't working.

I've noticed myself that the **spoiler** alert seems to have a mind of its own sometimes. I always figured I simply wasn't doing it right (again), but it's encouraging to know that I might not be as technologically inept as I so often appear.

Although . . . I suppose the two things are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

I think he'll do another 'collaboration' book, somehow. I'm thinking he'll be doing one in the next year or two. He might be also doing another Salem's Lot prequel-or that's what I might have heard. That'd be good. I think he should revisit some his older stuff more often or at least expand on the universe, therein. It's not like he overdoes it anyway, like some writers make ten books or more on the one character, and King never does anything to that extent, so he should revisit some of his older stuff.

There is only really one of that kind of stories i can think of. What happened to Charlie McGee from Firestarter as a grown woman? There could be a story there. Otherwise.... Carrie? No. Salems Lot? No. Shining? Done. Pet sematary? No. The Stand? No. IT? No.

I took a look inside this book on Amazon:

Stephen King A Face Among The Masters - Kindle edition by Brighton Gardner. Literature & Fiction Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

The author, whom I think I'm in general agreement regarding SK's place among the masters, makes the statement that SK is "mean" and even "heartless' in dealing with his characters. He seems to mean that in a "good" way, given the context, but it's still untrue. King is unafraid to kill off his readers' favorite characters, that's true, but it isn't because he's mean, and it's certainly not heartlessness. If he were, the deaths wouldn't come off as nearly as heartbreakingly realistic. It's because he's committed to the literary school of Naturalism. Now characters who are killed in a slasher movie, who are not generally intended to evoke sympathy with the audience---there, the author is indeed being heartless. But not King. With him, it's a whole different story.

Also, the author says that SK shows courage in killing off characters like
Tad Trenton in Cujo. I can't argue with this, especially in light of the fact that many readers (including myself) objected (I didn't send SK any letters regarding Tad's death,
but I've read that letters arrived by the truckload). I don't think I would, in fact, have King's guts. I would never kill of a kid in one of my own self-published stories though. Not because I'm chicken --it's just not what I do.

I think this misses the most disturbing experiences of his life. As a Yankee fan I noticed that he was a perennial Red Sox fan back when that would turn anyone to horror. Now that the Red Sox have gotten over the curse I think he has mellowed a little. But for years I used Stephen as a cautionary tale of the dangers of becoming a Red Sox fan. I always felt that the critics missed the allusion to Bill Buckner in Misery, and that Stephen was identifying himself as the Red Sox's "greatest fan".

from
On Writing Mr King was about 3 years old
and dropped a cinder block on his baby toe, (no small thing)
,
That was my first thought when I read that quote !

For me part of the thrill of reading his books is in knowing no character is safe, no matter how likeable or vulnerable they are.
