Hello!
As a serious collector, I have often wondered if there is any kind of list or directory source of all Stephen King magazine appearances?
I had made a list for myself back in 1991 (when I had made my decision to become a dedicated collector) from such sources as the first (and 2nd) Stephen King Companions and The Complete Stephen King Encyclopedia.
I would like to think I have kept myself current, however, I am sure that there are issues of magazines that I am not aware of and would love to have.
Is there anyone who might be able to point me in the right direction???
Thanks Tim

Bev Vincent's site lists the uncollected Stephen King short stories. Uncollected Stephen King short stories | Bev Vincent

Or are you just looking for articles about King?

Rocky Wood has just about every magazine SK ever appeared in. I'd check out his website, and also his book "Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished".
Bibliography | Official Site for Rocky Wood

The Stephen King Catalog site has a great wealth of information as well:
Magazines : Everything Stephen King! Books, Movies, T-Shirts, Ephemera!

Thank You for you reply. I will definitely check out those sites.
What I am interested in is ANY Stephen King reference, mention, interview, novel reviews, short story first apearances, making of movies, fanzines, etc., etc....
I currently have over 350 magazines in my collection that are King related. I would just like to know if there are any other significant issues that I am not aware of.
Thank you, Tim

You will definately want to collect all the issues of Castle Rock: The Stephen King Newsletter. This was a monthly newsletter that was edited by Stephanie Leonard (King's sister-in-law) and has many, many original appearances of King material, such as original appearances of Dolan's Cadillac, excerpts of his novels, reviews, essays, etc. A wealth of info!

...I presume that Fangoria is prevalent amongst the magazines for SK references....also, what about magazines like Wizard Comic Price Guide that has featured material from SK and references to his Marvel comic lines...

Thanks, and you're right, I do want to collect all of the Castle Rocks. I am only missing issue #'s 2, 3, and 5 (Feb, March and May 1985).
I have active searches on eBay and remain hopeful of finding them... Tim

Yeah!, those are the kind of items I would love to find. I have quite a few Fangoria's already, but would love to know if anyone knows of a listing of some kind of all issues that contain King stories/articles etc. Has anyone ever amassed such information???

...not that I'm aware of...does Fango's site give you a search feature for specific words or references?.....and I believe Wizard's does...

It's Whispers issue #17/18, published in December, 1982. It shows up occasionally on eBay. It's also available (but very pricey) on the ABE.

It contains the stories "Before the Play" (the complete Shining prologue) and "It Will Grow on You" plus some neat art.

Not me,where might I find that?
I've seen it pop up on ebay lots of times. The issue is Volume 5 #1 & 2 Whole Number 17-18 (it's a double issue). Type in whispers in the search box, click on 'books' for your search type, then click on magazines in the list on the left side of the page. Should do the trick.

Forgot to add that it came in three different 'states'. There was a hardback signed one (blue cloth cover), an unsigned hardback one (again blue cloth cover, I have this one) and a paperback version.

I also have a "proof" of it. It's actually a set of unbound pages and it's signed by Stu Schiff, the editor.

I came across this the other day -- a bibliography King's office sent me in 1982. The pages are creased and ragged. I used to carry it with me all the time back int he day!
We've been trying for years to get all that data entered into the Library in a way that will make sense when it gets posted on the site. It's been updated through the early to mid 2000s but sadly I'm missing a lot of entries since then. It's going to take some doing to bring it back up to current status and then make sure we add new entries as they get published.
