There is a cable channel called Decades that shows old television programming. Tonight, Stephen King, as well as Ira Levin, George Romero and Peter Straub (if I am recalling this correctly), is supposed to be on the Dick Cavett show. This is listed as being from 1980. Perhaps this is on YouTube (but I can't seem to find it if it is), but I am going to definitely watch this tonight. Check your cable guide for it, or go to the Decades website.

Holy moly! Dang it, I dunno...don't think I have that channel. I'd definitely be down for that--Holy Rosmary's Living Dead Chowder Society King!

And I love watching old Dick Cavett shows.

Ever see when Bowie was on Dick Cavett (Young Americans album era)? That's one worth seeing. David was buzzing a bit. I saw it on a dvd that came with the Young Americans special edition cd.

Thanks for sharing this information. I never knew he was on Cavett's show. I actually just googled it and was able to watch the full hour on shoutfactorytv.com. King and Romero smoking through the whole thing, a lot of laughs and a few stories I hadn't previously heard.

Man, I saw Robert Mitchum on Cavett, obviously getting smashed drunk, half-passing out...up till about the last quarter of the show, when they paused for a commercial. When they came back it was obvious Mitchum had taken some sort of 'pick me up', as he was suddenly alert, jittery, and talking more than Dick. Chain smoking the whole time.

The sixties...ahhhhh....

Here is an interesting 1982 interview filmed in King's Bangor home. The Cavett interview was in 1980 and inspired me to find this one and share it. I wonder if Marsha was present this day. I'm not sure when she was hired.

The first link is a more recent interview and the one below it is an older interview

Looks like she started working part-time in 1986

A friend or coworker remembers him (Mr. King) saying that when he became famous the first thing he would buy would be a purple Cadillac

Thanks, I'll check it out!

The interview was really good too - he has some great things to say about Bangor, Maine :love_heart::):star:
