The original pilot script for Castle had a scene with several people playing poker and Steve was one of them. They hadn't asked permission before doing so and later changed it to someone else after he found out through the grapevine.

That's interesting. It's understandable... His (or his look-alike's) appearance would have been like an endorsement and there was no way SK could have known the show would be as good as it is. I guess there were no hard feelings... when SK is mentioned in the show, it's respectful.

Family Guy episode Three Kings is 3 short parodies of 3 SK stories - Misery, The Body/Stand by Me, and Shawshank Redemption. Wikipedia says that Seth McFarlane asked King before making it and Stephen agreed and enjoyed the episode. At the end of the episode, Peter says "thanks for watching, and thank you Stephen King, we'll see you in court"

He was also in a previous episode, being hit by a car, thrown into the air and writes a story before he lands a few seconds later.

I'd forgotten about those parodies! They were hilarious! Somehow I missed seeing the one where Sk is hit and writes a story before he lands... hopefully, it's on youtube :)

There's also that episode where Brian Griffin runs over Dean Koontz. Brian asks him if he's Stephen King. After he identifies himself as Dean Koontz, Brian gets back in his truck and runs him over again.

In Revolution there were a lot of SK references.

A character referred to as Randall. And a guy who says his name is Stu Redman and his friend is Frannie. There were more, but those are the ones I remember.

And since it's an apocalyptic show, The Stand is an appropriate book to reference.

This one is a rather obvious reference. Do you think you would add this one to your collection @king family fan?

lol Neesy... I looked at this on imdb and read these trivia notes regarding movie character names. Two of the main characters have the surname Bachman. Sheriff Pangborn and Deputy Dodd are both recurring characters in Stephen King novels. Verrill is an eponymous character in a Stephen King short story, played by Stephen King himself in the movie Creepshow.

I wonder if the writer asked SK for his permission?

King is mentioned in JA Jance's book Betrayal Of Trust, that I am currently reading. One of the characters refers to the Dean Koontz novel Watchers and another character states that they don't read 'those' type of novels like the ones written by Koontz and Stephen King. It's their loss I say! :biggrin-new:

I remember that one. Rachel and he swap books and he ends up reading Little Women and being so upset that he ends up putting that one in the freezer too!!LOL
I can not remember this episode. Do you remember what season it was? I would love to see it.
(And, when I watched White Noise, I was so scared I put it out on the porch before going to bed. True story.;-D )
