I watched an old SNL today where the skit was of two men sportscasters at a women's golf tournament. They would periodically intersperse on-air advertisements for products that were sponsoring the tourney in their running commentary.

One of these sponsors was Stayfree Maxipads.

The pitch?

"When your uterine lining looks like the elevator from The Shining--Stayfree "Maxipads!

Hot in Cleveland had a scene recently where Victoria was tied up by a deranged plastic surgeon and they have a conversation about how the situation was a lot like "that Stephen King book, Misery." The doctor agreed and said something along the lines of "I'm sure there is a big hammer in the garage." Or mallet, or sledgehammer, I can't remember the exact wording. Tried to find a clip, found practically the whole episode in clips except that scene.

I was watching HLN news. They were showing some guy, charged with murder. Before the trial, he wants the "Murder" tattoo around his neck removed. The word is written backwards. So the reporter says...."Murder written backwards? That's....." And shows a shorter version of this clip

I remember the cheers episode where Frasier is reading great expectations to the gang,as they get bored he jazzes it up by saying,"and then,an evil clown carried the children into the sewers, where he devoured them whole!":nerd:
I wont forget the Friends episode where it is revealed that one of the few, if not only, book that joey has read is The Shining. But he thinks it is so scary that he never quite finish. He keeps it in the freezer so the evil can't touch him.

I am currently reading Bossypants by Tina Fey. A book that was on the New York Times Best seller list for 5 weeks and has sold over 1 million copies.

In a chapter about doing photo shoots for magazine covers she says:

"With the wind blowing on your long extensions, you feel like Beyonce. The moment the wind machine stops, you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and wonder, '"Why is the Coal Miner's Daughter here?'"

Your impulse will be to wilt with embarrassment. Do not! Before you look up for the bucket of pig's blood, remember, your third and most difficult task is '"Trying to Enjoy It."'

We watched Ready Player One last weekend. The parts in The Overlook from The Shining was my favorite part. :applause: I did read the book but I can't remember if that was in there or just in the movie.

Also while playing Fallout 76 the other day, was looking at my map and noticed a place called The Torrance Home and another place called The Overlook. I have not been there yet to explore so I don't know if there are other connections but hope to find out soon!
