Hello folks!

This is kind of random, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight into Stephen's time at the University of Maine. I myself am both a King fan and a student at the university, and I started wondering: what was he involved in during his time here? What if he lived in the hall I currently live in? How wild would that be.

I think you can view some of his writings that aren't released to the public in the special collections area. Not sure how that works though.

If you can, he wrote articles for the college paper called The Garbage Truck. If you could read those, you would see what he was into.

Welcome!

Last night I read 'Stephen King' entry in 'The Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural (1986) edited by Jack Sullivan, and it mentions his 'Garbage Truck' column and I noticed someone posted a thing about alcohol and it mentions his story 'Gray Matter'. Which now I will have to read again. Some of the stuff in the piece I find to be a bit subjective.

Have you read the book "Hearts in Atlantis"? - I would like to think that some of that stuff in there is from his own life while some is just made up.

Yeah those games of chasing the bitch sure had a real feeling to it even if he didnt play cars, or did he?
Oh My! "Chasing the bitch!" I forgot about that expression. Yes - I got a feel for that time - sounds like he did a lot of growing and learning while at University. I still remember the guy on the crutches who used to say rip, rip, rip, rip as he was going along.

Nice book.

It might be Dan Ackroyd. I think he looks in the picture like he's angry beacause he has to clean the car. He looks a bit like Kurben.
He might look abit angry because it's a piece-of-sh*t car, his Mom's working two or three jobs to feed and clothe him and his brother, and the house needs a new roof. He's come a l-o-n-g way since then.
