King, as we all probably know, said he was going to stop engaging social media for an indefinite period of time (I don't blame him; I don't think I would want to do that Twitter thing myself).

Someone suggested on that platform that he should write a book about the recent election; obviously, a horrific one. A book would certainly be fine, but I would find more immediate gratification if he wrote a short story that would almost serve as a fictional essay of his thoughts.

Does anyone here think his muse will go in that direction? Will we see Randall Flagg run for president over the course of 10,000 words, for instance? Be interesting to see a short story set in the universe of The Stand -- society is on its way to its first post-flu election and one of the candidates is named Rand Stripes.

I just spoke to Marsha about this.

He is giving us Hearts in Suspension -- a look at the Viet Nam years.

I would love for him to keep a journal of sorts, for the next 4 years and at the end of that time, give us a book called
Hearts in Disbelief.

Well, he already wrote The Dead Zone, so...but, then, that had a happy ending...I guess.

But, seriously, King writing about current events? Nah. Blech. I turn to King in order to escape that stuff. And besides, the only writer who could have made sense out of all this was Hunter Thompson; unfortunately, he bit the bullet years ago.
