I took my daughter and her friend to the annual “Powder Puff Football Game” Sunday night. It’s a tradition that has been going on for a very long time between my daughter’s high school and the rival high school team in the next town.

Senior girls play a game of (flag) football, and senior boys become cheerleaders. The girls create a special jersey to wear during the game, and the boys wear girl’s cheerleader outfits. Played under the lights, 4 high school refs, announcers, coaches, video taping, concession stands, and a large crowd. The girls take the game much more seriously than the boys. The girls apparently love the chance to hit each as hard has they can on the line, and the boys do drag queen. :facepalm_smiley:

You have any odd traditions or customs where you are?

When I was little, in my hometown. (I don't know if they still do it)
If you did not have your Easter bonnet on, On Easter Sunday, the cops would come get you in a funny paddy wagon. They were all dressed up silly.

And then the Firemen would squirt you down with a hose and your had to ride around high in the back of the the firetruck with everyone else with sirens going.

:Oo: I saw the home movies. Thankfully don't remember much, but the ride.

Mummers also seems like something that would be in a SK novel. We even have an entire channel on my cable provider dedicated to Mummers... Mummers TV... All Mummers All The Time. You should appreciate that being from the Philly area. :)

I have mummer tv. :facepalm_smiley: I have seen the mummers. Good god.
I've also seen the mummers. Comics, Fancies, String Bands, and Fancy Brigades... really?. I think it was some sort of right of passage that parents of yesteryear made their children endure. :)

I think a case could be made in this area that the Mummers were the first to scare the hell out of kids in regards to clowns... Long before Pennywise.
