Well yes. I think part of the issue was the cost of the sheet cakes. Like one is like $30.00 somtwo plus fruit and stuff and who needs all of that stuff. I hope they just do me or two, sheet cakes per mounth for people's botrthday
Maybe he or she had a relative in the cake business? :a24::wink::) (just kidding)

They would have been better off to get a fruit basket or something healthy I guess

I used to bake a lot and bring in treats to work on Friday, but to be honest I am losing my enthusiasm for this now

The birthday celebration is held in the main office. I am in satellite office, so do not get to partake in the birthday cakes. It is probably a good thing. I always think of the movie "office space" with Milton always not getting his piece of cake. :)

Okay - we do have one unusual person at work. I don't want to name any names in case someone from work happens to be incognito on this board, but this person talks to themselves in public quite often. At times she will get upset and sort of bang things around.

This person was supposed to train me back in the beginning but I ended up with a weird sort of vasculitis on my lower legs and the Nurse Practitioner at the walk-in clinic gave me two days off, so I didn't have to work that weekend with her after all (thank God!)

I guess it takes all kinds, so the best we can do is try to be polite to each other and just get along the best we can.

For the most part, many of those I work with are really great, which I am very happy about.

I like working the afternoon shift and I am home by around 10:15 or 11:15 p.m. at the latest. It's quieter after 5 p.m. at the hospital and also on the weekends, which I like.

I think the issue was the cost of said cake as we are a non profit and any extra expense is subjected to review. So anything a lot whould be considered to much. We will, see what happens next week. At the end of the mounth. I like the idea of the end of the mounth celebrations,

Break time. Picnic bench. Picture it. Got my kindle.
Idle chat with two guys. One I respect a lot. Name's Earl.

He works down in the dungeon shop. When he speaks, I listen. Because he rarely does. And what he says is direct and on point.

Earl. Don't know how old he is. Scarfs over head, shades, ponytail. Motorcycle. Always what he wants to say, in few words.

Shocked when the conversation turned to DNA. I just sent mine in Dana Jean This Earl states facts that Darwinism
is false. And the other agrees. 'monkeys should be human now'

danie I know you have had to deal with this with school children.

My sister and I have proven our DAR membership. Daughters of the American Revolution. We have established our line to a 5th great grandfather who was a Patriot. My sister gets her national DAR number this month and then receives a packet of stuff sometime soon. Really interested to see what all is in the packet.

She laid all the groundwork to this particular Patriot, so all I have to do is prove my line, which I have sent my information. BUT, we are thinking about following a line to another Patriot, we have 11 possible ones to choose from. So, I could take the easy route with the established Patriot, or I can spend time and money to link to another. Which I may do depending on what my DAR investigator tells me. (She's researching for the next easiest Patriot to choose.)

That is so cool.

It's strange that I am so frightened to see things that are not than I was told.
Grandparents both came over from Ireland. I know the county's. Down and Cork. Know their names.
Died before I old enough to know them.

Everything might change that I knew about myself.. scary.

Do I tell the sisters?

Yes. You WILL have surprises. And that is so fun! I was thrilled to find so many different cultures in my spit! It was exciting.
The way DNA is handed down, your sisters could get a part of the DNA from your family you don't get. THat's why they say to have all your siblings tested as it will give you a bigger and better picture of your family tree.

My sister, brother and I all did DNA spit tests. We are established full siblings.

My sister and I got Africa -- my brother did not.

My brother and I got Eastern Jewish -- my sister did not.

My brother and sister got Italian/Greek -- I did not.

And, DNA can dilute out of a family's line very quickly. So, you may think you are French let's say, but, depending on what 50% of DNA that keeps getting handed down, a line of DNA can quickly get lost so French might not show up! And that doesn't mean that you are not descended from French ancestors, it just means you didn't get that DNA.

I hope you will share your surprises, disappointments, laughs when you receive your results.

:hopelessness: ok still scared. I will.

Very interesting. I might just have to go further with this, when I get the results.

All of ancestors -who knows what they were up to? I know my family have been sailors. Oh no.
And you have to remember, once upon a time, there were fewer people per square mile to bumpachickabowbow with. So people can have a very interesting mixture.

My cousin recently shared a document on our family's ancestry message board. It is the Last Will and Testament of my 6th great-grandfather, Sherwood James. I suppose it was inevitable to find someone in our lineage owned slaves but it doesn't make it any less shocking to see it written down in black and white. Here's a sample:

I have run into many documents in my family tree where slaves were in the will. I was very disappointed learning this as I never thought this was in my history. Many census forms have slaves in the household, listed as black or mulatto. I have run into a number of really interesting tidbits-- it is fascinating.

Did it change you in anyway? How so? I want to see my results, with this, but then again - I don't .. I trusted what was told to me.
