My sister was a "registered hypnotherapist" (among other things) I don't remember what she did to get that title.

I quit smoking once because she make me think it tasted like bird poo.
Then there was all the automatic writing she had me do, but that's another story.

That could have really backfired. If you didn't stop smoking, you may have started eating bird poo.

I'm curious Nadine, what method did she use to hypnotize you? I've heard that some people are easier to hypnotize than others. I had someone try it on me one time at a party and they were sadly disappointed. I think I'm way to dull to be hypnotized....

It was focused on breath and relaxing, I was totally aware at all times. But open to suggestions. Nothing like chicken clucking or that nonsense. I wrote some.. stuff - once ten pages front and back about things that I really did not know about.
Spirits, Different planes of existence. Things that she showed me later in books that I almost could have been quoting from.

Scary. Never wanted to do that again.

Now, during her pregnancy, she practiced self-hypnosis. I was there for the birth. Never saw anything like it. No problems. Mid wife. Happy.

Never once complained. Took any fear of childbirth that I had out of me.

I was at a yoga demonstration once - not the physical thing but the meditation thing. I'm pretty sure it was self-hypnosis. I must say, I've rarely been so relaxed, and I've used the technique other times.

Hypnosis of others bothers me. It has implications that I don't like to think about.

After spending 38 years searching for the title and author of a certain book (I started by phoning the teacher who had read it to us three years previously and she didn't remember), the last sixteen frequenting online forums on which many other tough stumpers have been solved, I was almost resigned to hypnosis, but this story put me off it. Rather than being hanged or drive off a bridge, I can do without remembering the title.
