I bought a new HP printer yesterday, and Karen, and I worked on that thing for over 3 hours, and could not get it hooked up to the computer. No matter what we did it would not connect.
I took it back this morning, and got my money back.
Then I bought a Canon for half the price I paid for the HP. Brought it home, and Karen hooked it up, and got it connected in about a half hour.
I am done with HP products.
Read online that lots of other people are having the same problem with connecting the HP printers.
They will be losing a lot of money if they don't make it more simple to connect the printer to the computer.
I sent a feedback to HP about all the trouble we had, and I got an answer this morning. I told them to never mind, that I got a Canon, and had no problem getting it connected.
Ok, vent over!

I've always used HP printers and I have owned many of them. I have had many of them with weird software installation issues like yours. I bought an incredible color laserjet a few months ago but had to jump through hoops to get the software installed. I found a forum on the internet that told me I had to change a file during the middle of the software installation to get the software installed. I had about a 5 second window to get this done and had to try several times to beat the clock ;-D but it worked and my printer is all kinds of awesome. But you are right, it is so frustrating that they can't get their software issues corrected.

I thought that HP meant high blood pressure.

I think that is what pegasus got when she attempted to hook up her printer (High blood pressure that is, not the sauce!)

I got a call from the HP people this afternoon. They explained that not all windows 10 computers are compatible with the HP printers. Then why say it on the damned box?
I didn't talk to him, but he left a voicemail, and wanted me to call him at my convenience. He is going to be waiting a long time.
My PC is a HP, and I had always had HP printers, until now.

Been using HPs since the '90s, but I live in an HP town, so I have a lopsided loyalty. Anyway, my main complaints are 1) there was one out of the 20 or so that I've bought that was a stinker, and 2) I can't kill them, so they end up hanging around longer than their expected lifespan.

Windows can be befuddling. I went to print something last night, and one of my HPs (1606) was no long an option. What? Went to Add Printer, added it, and I was printing again within 30 seconds. But it had to be a Windows issue. I don't think the HP printer is deleting itself.
