I Have just finished my second year of University and as such will have a lot of spare time in the next few months through which i can catch up on some of the books which i have bought but not had the time to read. Any response to this thread would be appreciated as i have a few books which i am looking to read but don't know which one to start with.

I finished "Doctor Sleep" earlier and just thought id tell everyone my thoughts. Personally i really enjoyed this novel as i felt the relationships between the characters were really great as well as having a truly brutal and frightening villain in the True Knot and Rose the Hat, The section involving the death of the baseball kid was also a lot darker than a lot of the more recent books from King that i have read.

Wow, you didn't hang about did you? Rose was a great "baddy" strong, ruthless, fearsome and, ultimately insane. Plus abra was a classic king character - a lovable, vulnerable child. Great book.

If you still have not decided what to read next, go with 11/22/63. It's big, epic, it revisits much loved characters and it is just a fantastic story.

Ok just thought id update this. I started reading 11/22/63 a few days ago and am around 300 pages in. I found the book a little hard-going at first due to the lack of horror however once the main plot got going i was hooked. I must also say a thanks to King for revisiting a few characters from IT which is my favorite novel from King and one which i also hoped for a sequel to, and although i didn't get a full sequel the section from this novel was perfect IMO. Anyone on this board who has read this novel will understand the line i am referring to but there is a key phrase in this scene which reveals the fates of this characters in one sentence. I haven't finished the novel yet but am thoroughly enjoying it at the moment.

It and 11/22/63 are my number 1 and 2 favourites respectively. The part you refer to was wonderful to stumble upon. I was so happy to hear from them again, even
Mr Keane still being a nasty little pr*ck

I remember it starting a bit slow for me too when I first read it, I can even pinpoint the part that hooked my interest - when Jake meets al
after the phone call and it is apparent he has aged massively in the space of a day or so.

Yeah that was the section which started to grab my attention, i know its only a few pages in but im usually hooked on a King book by the opening line. I need to get a move on and finish this one so i can start catching up on the ones i have missed. At the moment i am looking at "Needful things" which i read a long time ago, Desperation, Dreamcatcher or Insomnia. Any of these worth picking up above the others?

In my opinion Desperation, Needful things, Dreamcatcher, insomnia, but there are very varied opinion about that on this board.
