my son, of course, is currently serving in the US Army

Wow - perhaps I should have put a military related question in there Scott! (my mind was elsewhere last Sunday I guess).

Your son is looking good - I hope he is doing well as an MP!
:joyous:
...he is doing as well as he can, some things are still a challenge-mostly his "tape test"...he's built like I am, only in MUCH better shape-and it's difficult to nigh on impossible for him to stay to the ridiculous body fat standard the Army demands....

When I was on another board many years ago, we used to do this. Just silly questions to find out a bit about each other. It was always 10 questions, and then we would pass it on to another person so everyone would get a chance at it. I hope it catches on here.

1. What kind of shampoo do you use?
2.What is your favorite food?
3.Whatve children?
5. Are you in a relationship?
6. What is your favorite Stephen King book/movie? (one only)
7. What is your favorite animal?
8. What detergent do you use?
9. Do you body wash or bar soap?
10. What is your favorite flavor of ice crème?

I pass this on to Neesy for next Sunday.
1. What kind of shampoo do you use? My sister gave me a huge bottle of Paul Mitchell.
2.What is your favorite food? Prime rib.
3.What temperature do you keep your house? 68-72º.
4. Do you have children? No.
5. Are you in a relationship? Yes.
6. What is your favorite Stephen King book/movie? (one only) Desperation.
7. What is your favorite animal? Pet.
8. What detergent do you use? Generic powder for laundry, generic gel for dishes.
9. Do you body wash or bar soap? Either.
10. What is your favorite flavor of ice crème? Mint chocolate chip.

Can he opt for hydrostatic weighing? I have friend who spent almost two years on the 'Fat Boy' program, getting weaker and weaker. When they did hydrostatic weight, her body fat was about 5%--WAY too low for a woman. She is about 6'1" and actually HAS the big bones people like to blame for weight--lol. Her wrists are half again as large as mine. Anyway, once it was established that neither the scale or tape told the real story, and she was at real physical risk, the pressure was off. It's something for your son to consider, anyway, since he has the genes to be a big guy without being fat.

The Canadian military used to use the BMI system and if you were a tall guy or a weight lifter it skewed the results. You would think they could take it into consideration that he is above average in size and yet still healthy - good luck!
I hope they don't make him go on Remedial PT or as the Army guys used to call it "Piggy Parade" - sick sense of humour (I know!)
