9. What was the last thing you thought about before sleep last night?
Oh sh*t, I still have a lot of homework to do.
10. What is the most daring or dangerous thing that you have ever done?
This isn't really dangerous or daring, more like stoopid. I live near a big mountain, which I often ride up and down with my friends and my Dad. I'd done it dozens of times before the incident, and dozens of times after. So, we were coming down a bumpy gravelly bit of the road and I was like "woah, I'm going too fast" (well, only like 30kmph, so not actually very fast). So, I applied the front brakes quite hard. Bad move. I went straight over the handlebars onto a nice gravelly bit of road . Then a friend of mine almost ran me over.

I think I might have photos still, I was like completely covered in bandages afterwards. Every limb was wrapped up to some degree. I had grazes on my torso that doctors had to pull the gravel out of (not fun ;;D). But, on the bright side, I got to stay at home and watch Conan The Barbarian and Conan The Destroyer. :D

1. What (if any) superstition do you believe/practice? None that I'm aware of. My mother is superstitious enough for my whole family.

2. Has reading a book ever changed your life? Which one, and why? Certainly Cujo was a game changer. It was the first Stephen King book I ever read and one of the first times I can remember thinking there was someone else out there that didn't always think the good guys always won.

3. Are you a good dancer? What was the last song you danced to? I don't dance, ever...lol

4. If you could pick a book that you have read to be made into a movie, which would you pick? Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy.

5. What is the most beautiful place that you have ever seen? It's a tie between Jackson, Wyoming and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

6. What song always makes you happy when you hear it? Not sure if "happy" is the word for it, but "Would" by Alice in Chains makes me feel very nostalgic, that's about the closest to happy I can come. There are a thousand memories, some good, some bad wrapped up in that song every time I hear it. The song always brings a pursed hint of a ironic smile to my lips..."Am I wrong? Have I run too far to get home?"

7. What did you want to be when you grew up? An Air Force F-15 Eagle pilot.

8. What are your favorite smells? Fabric softener, vanilla, burning leaves.

9. What was the last thing you thought about before sleep last night? Did I lock all the doors?

10. What is the most daring or dangerous thing that you have ever done? Classified:)

1. What (if any) superstition do you believe/practice?
Can't think of any--I'm not superstitious.

2. Has reading a book ever changed your life? Which one, and why?
No, but one changed my mind: Me Before You (Jojo Moyes) made me think again about euthanasia. It brought home to me that the decision is more complex than I'd considered it to be.

3. Are you a good dancer? What was the last song you danced to?
I think so--lol. I sing (badly) and dance so often that I can't think of the last one :)

4. If you could pick a book that you have read to be made into a movie, which would you pick?
Mine, because I would REALLY like movie money :) Other than that, I think Little Star (J.A. Lindqvist) would make a great, very successful movie.

5. What is the most beautiful place that you have ever seen?
Louis Lake

6. What song always makes you happy when you hear it?
I Need Love (Luka Bloom). How can Irish acoustic rap NOT make one smile?

7. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Teacher/writer/librarian

8. What are your favorite smells?
Popcorn, lavender, lilacs, freshly mown grass, puppy breath, baby necks

9. What was the last thing you thought about before sleep last night?
How thankful I was to lay down, and how nice it was to have a warm, soft, safe place to sleep (EDIT: background. I'm not being sanctimonious with that answer--right before bed I was reading John Scalzi's "What it is to be poor" essay and the responses, and it was sobering. It's not been so long ago that many of them hit home personally. You never get over feeling poor, I think)

10. What is the most daring or dangerous thing that you have ever done?
Jumping off a roof onto a mattress. Walking through a VERY bad part of San Francisco to get back to a place where a cab would come pick up my friends and me. Overconfidence when I was a lot taller than the drunk guy who was saying how long he'd been stalking me. (Turns out that men are stronger, even when you're taller. Who knew, besides anyone with any sense?)

I have to change my answer about the interstate speeds here, it was recently changed to 80, not 85. Sorry, my mistake!!

Wow - I'm kind of scared to drive 80. Be brave little cat!

4. How do you think you’d react if your son or daughter told you he/she was gay? (If no children, imagine.) Not with shame. Not with embarrassment. 100% FEAR. As a mother, my job was/is to protect my children. How in the hell do you protect them from the world of hate that will come raining down on them because they are gay? So much hate out there.

Putting this on my list.

Danie & N_N - great questions. I'm just not good at answering these days. But I do so love reading these.

1 I salute magpies and greet them with a cheery "Morning General!" I
I also spit through two fingers at the mere mention of that bloated self
important trout formerly HRH Sarah Ferguson. My Mother used to do it.
Frightening!
2 Funnily enough it was a film tie-in. Alien. It taught me not to be scared.
You can close a book.
3 I have two feet. One left, one right. Unfortunately, there was a cock up
at the manufacturer and the buggers put them on the ends of the wrong
legs.
4 I think Jeremy Kyle should play Dante in an adaption of la Commedia.
5 Scotland. The NW of Scotland is Heaven. I'd love to see the beaches of
Cancún one day.
6 These are Days by 10000 Maniacs and Recurring Dream by Crowded House.
7 I wanted to be a surgeon like my Dad.
8 Sizzling, apple smoked bacon. And Lapsang Souchong tea.
9 The woman of my dreams. I'm not being cute, she doesn't know me. She's on the TV!
10 I cut out alcohol last July. I used to think it made me interesting. And brave. I may have been wrong.
